I think you're getting the mp3's backwards. The one with the hum and "intro scales" sounds was recorded with the P75 (mp3 #2). The DOSbox mp3 (mp3 #1) lacks both of those.

Lowering the cycles doesn't work with all games, though. I tried this with Stellar 7 and Mortal Kombat 1 and still got the buffer error.

I'm the one that recorded the mp3. 😀 Anyhow, I just got an MPU-IPC today and I'm still getting that sound out of Stunts (using it with a dedicated DOS comp), but it doesn't do that through DOSbox. Kind of annoying..

In the Stunts mp3 you've, that high pitched sound at the beginning that lasts throughout the intro half of the song isn't supposed to be there. I think it's just a bug with using an SB16 and the MT-32 (what I recorded it with) instead of a true MPU-401 with MT-32. If you play Stunts through DOSbox …
