In my "dos days" I adjusted the volume with the provided volume slider right on the cd-rom drives that shipped in those ages. Just use the OS's mixer to change the volume. CD volume control has always been a tough issue to tackle in all kinds of software that isn't specialized for CD access.

A-10: Silent Thunder also has the issue Even Dogz has issues in Win98 (nothing worse than not being able to CLICK THE TOYS AND ITEMS in the box)

YMF262 is OPL3 - most non-Creative ISA cards had these. On the Creative side, only their SBPro 2.0 and early SB16/Awe32 has it. Audigy 1's awful, why not have an Audigy 2? That's like Creative's best PCI card ever. Good luck finding a good model of those though as Creative likes to water down and sell out crappy models after the release of a newer inferior product

Using Timidity++ as the current MIDI device for DOSBox on Windows could yield some slow results especially with games like Castles II. 🙁
