When not checked, a MIDI session exists until an external application is connected or the MIDI player is playing a file. I now use VirtualBox exclusively after using Virtual PC until the Windows 7 version was released. It was very poor at networking in particular that I got fed up and binned it :) My advice, take a copy of the VHD and load it into VirtualBox directly and see if it's better. VMWare is also a good …

I run PSP X and for me it was quite unstable on Win 7 x64. So much so that I got fed up and ran it under Virtual PC instead. Got fed up with VPC under 7 so have now migrated to VirtualBox 😀

Using MS drivers for any device will generally give you nothing but the basic features and arguably because of it, the most stable system. Any reason why you would choose MS drivers above that written by the manufacturer?

I never got used to Gimp so cannot comment. Paint.net is good but compared to PSP X (last version I used [extensively]), it's quite basic. A couple of things that spring to mind: text handling is poor (not exactly a strength of PSP either but it's better than PDN), selections are very limiting too. …
