Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

Ok, ripsaw8080 was right. It was indeed a Daum build the one that was working with the 4GB image. It's just that I've used so many builds that I've lost count. So I guess I'm out of luck if I want the Pixel Perfect patch with my 4GB image, unless of course I try to somehow merge the two builds …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

4GB works fine with official Dosbox 0.74, I have installed Windows 98 normally and on top of that several programs which work fine. At times I have almost completely filled the whole 4GB too (with CD images etc). I can upload the image somewhere for someone to test it. ETA: I'll check again the …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

Probably don't mix it. Install anew with ECE Can't do that because ECE fails to assign a drive letter to the image. "imgmount c windows98.img -size 512,63,255,522 -t hdd" returns: "Can't create drive from file". While with "imgmount 2" it mounts ok, when I give a letter I see this error (probably …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

I have a Win98 image that official Dosbox 0.74 boots fine from, but the latest version of Dosbox ECE can't boot it. I use the following lines in both cases: imgmount 2 windows98.img -size 512,63,255,522 -t hdd -fs none boot -l C Dosbox 0.74 mounts and boots perfectly. ECE mounts the image and gives …

Text mode at fullscreen + Mouse problem

By searching I found a few threads about this but no definitive answer. I'm running the Watcom debugger under DOSBox and it works just fine in a window. I currently adjust the windowed resolution and I don't have a real problem, so the following are just minor quirks which I mention out of curiosity …

Re: Anyone have a 'fanless' / passive cooled only PC?

in PC Emulation
I have a P4@3GHz with CPU and GPU cooled by Zalman Reserator. It's been operating continuously for a year and a half, including high summer temperatures, and I never had any problems. The only fan in the system is that of the PSU, which is Zalman as well and pretty quiet, but there is no completely …

Thanks for the extensive reply. What I was referring to is this: It keeps copies of your dos config.sys/io.sys/msdos.sys/autoexec.bat and copies them back over prior to the boot so the computer boots into DOS 6. I had completely forgotten that Win98 would have the option of booting into the " …

So the procedure for unhidden partitions is as described in this page ? Assuming one optical drive, MS-DOS would be on C, Win98 on E and WinXP on F, correct ? But if Win98 requires the boot files to be on C, how can one boot to MS-DOS 6.22 when partitions are unhidden ?

And congrats on finding an AWE64 Gold. It wasn't hard, I found it in a drawer somewhere. :happyhappy: I bought this thing when it was HOT! And then it was forgotten until now. I even found its installation CD! Thanks for the replies. I think I'll also install 6.22 just in case. It's not like I …

Configuration musings...

in PC Emulation
Hi all  I'm about to build a gaming PC for everything that can run on it. The main components are a Gigabyte GA-6VTXE motherboard (has 1 ISA slot), a PIII@1GHz, a Soundblaster AWE64 Gold and a GeForce 2 MX card (I also have a spare FX5200LP). There are two hard disks, 40 GB and 1.2GB and …
