Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

Niiiice!!! So I got some converter plugs and audio cables to connect my MT-32 to my computer speakers. The Radioshack I went to (an electronics store here in the US) only had certain types of converters available- in the end, I cobbled together an odd assortment that does the job. (for anyone who …

Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

Hey, what do you know! I got it to work! Not exactly sure what was the problem before- I think it was a combination of different things. For one I was playing General MIDI songs rather than Roland MIDI on Windows Media Player. Also when I switched the MIDI output to SB MIDI UART in the Windows Audio …

Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

I have the same hardware setup as you, but I use the DOSBox defaults: "mpu401=intelligent, device=default, config=" (leaving config empty uses the default device from Windows). Connect the cable's "MIDI OUT" to the MT-32's "MIDI IN". (Makes sense if you think about it). Also, see if Windows Media …

Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

Ok, so I've set my PC up with the Roland MT-32 using MIDI/gameport cables, but I haven't been able to get it to work yet. Here is the setup: 1. Windows PC with SB Live! Value (which has a MIDI/gameport) 2. MIDI/gameport cable connected to SB Live card's gameport and cable's MIDI IN going into Roland …

Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

Thanks, Dominus! That answers my question! Yeah, I was confused- I thought that the MIDI-USB cable would somehow transmit the MIDI to the MT-32. That really wouldn't make any sense thinking about it. This joystick/game port to MIDI cable would work for my SB Live! Value card.

Re: CONNECTING A ROLAND MT 32 TO A PC

I, too, have just received a Roland MT-32 from eBay, and am wondering how best to connect it to my PC, albeit in my case I want to connect it to a P4 running DosBox on Windows XP. http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=18250 The MIDI-joystick cable mentioned in this thread seems like it would work …

Connecting MT-32 with a MIDI-USB cable for DosBox?

Another newb question for you all: I just got a Roland MT-32 off eBay, and am wondering what I need to connect it to P4 PC with a SB Live! Value card. The card has a joystick port that doubles as MIDI MPU-401 port. Do I have to connect the Roland MT-32 to the SB Live! Value card directly using some …

Re: Three Stooges (problem with voice clips)

I thought as much. Is there any known way to control the rate of the internal speaker in DOSBox? Thanks for letting me know about the 3 Stooges remake. I had no idea they remade it (albeit for the Game Boy Advance). Here is the link for anyone that is interested: http://www.cinemaware.com/3stooge_ …

Three Stooges (problem with voice clips)

Has anyone here played Three Stooges (made by Cinemaware sometime in the 80's) on DosBox? The game runs fine except for the little bits of recorded voices. Whenever the game tries to play the voices, all I hear is a few "clicks" and silence. Thinking it might be related to the game speed, I tried …

Re: Starting screen position

So I conducted several tests with two different monitors and two different computers and here are the results: 1.) The monitor settings are indeed saved on the monitor itself, however, each "profile" is not saved to just the resolution. They are saved for each resolution AND (exclusive) the refresh …

Re: Starting screen position

No, everything is running fine now (read my first reply). My question was just about where the actual monitor display settings are saved. To what part of my answer was this aimed at? I don't doubt that it is running fine now, I just doubt your conclusions. I think there's something lost in …

Re: Starting screen position

No, everything is running fine now (read my first reply). My question was just about where the actual monitor display settings are saved. The display resolution was just brought up because it was stated that the monitor might save the settings based on the resolution and/or refresh rate. I will go …
