Re: X-Wing (Floppy) Control Patch?

in DOS
I haven't done anything with it since shortly after the last post (2014.) I've since added a WCS to my setup, and have stopped using the this loader completely. As for your issue, I'd assume it would have to do with the differences between a 486 and Pentium, Freedos & MS-DOS, or EMM386 & JEMM386. I …

Re: Install DOS in DOSBox

A quick note, then a couple of question: No need for a boot disk, just add "-l c" to the end of the boot command. "boot disk-1.ima disk-2.ims -l c" and it will boot to the imgmount(ed) C drive with your disks lined up and ready to go (with the ctrl-f4 switching,) for installing. That's assuming you …

Re: Falcon 3.0 floppy install

OK, now it works :) Thanks!! Wish the reboot worked. Probably a reason why it doesn't, but was a "slight" hastle having to type everything in again. But I can live with that. A lot easier than trying to do everything in another emulator. Every one I've tried is either slow as or too much trouble to …

Re: Falcon 3.0 floppy install

Sorry, next question: How did you create the image with bximage? I downloaded it (well, I downloaded bochs and extracted the utility,) and used the following command: bximage -q -func=create -hd=20M -imgmode=flat HD20.img This reported a CHS of 40/16/63 So I used the following command in DOSBox ( …

Re: Falcon 3.0 floppy install

OK, maybe I'm using the wrong tool to create the HD20.img file, then. I'm using WinImage custom format, specifying 512 byte sectors, 32 sectors/track, 2 heads, and total size of 40960 sectors (thats' 640 tracks) for a total size of about 20 MB (thus the HD20.img name I'm assuming.) I cleared out …

Falcon 3.0 floppy install

I'm trying to install the floppy version of "Falcon 3.0" I used my Kryoflux to make img files for all 5 disks (didn't appear to be any bad sectors or such,) and then mounted them in sequence (disk-1, disk-2, etc...) using imgmount. When I then (from the A:\> prompt) type install, it gives me "Boot …

Re: Star Fleet I Problem :(

Probably has the same issue with floppy access that a lot of other games have. If I manually build a "boot" disk like the SETUP.BAT file tries to do, it will work just fine with the BOOT command in DOSBox. Have to use DOS 3.0 or earlier, as there just isn't room on the 360 K disk the game comes on. …

Re: Star Fleet I Problem :(

OK, that allows me to bypass the problem. Still wondering what the exact problem is. BEGINS.EXE & BEGIN.EXE do the exact some thing if I play from disk, instead of copying the files onto the HDD. So, if CYGNUS.COM didn't force A: Drive, it might work as well. But the BATCH file accomplishes the same …

Star Fleet I Problem :(

Cannot get it to even start now. Though I don't remember if I had it running before, or not, in DOSBox. The setup program on the disk doesn't work... I seem to recall it didn't work back when either. There's not room on the disk, and the backup batch never worked either. That being said, I got …

Metal & Lace cannot execute command.com

OK, looking for yet another fix :( Still waiting to find the install fix, so I don't have work so hard, but for now, I just fully installed the game in another emulator, then moved the directory over for mounting in DOSBox. Only now it says "Cannot execute COMMAND.COM" when I try to run it. Gotta …

Dark Seed Installation

Got to another game that gives me issues during install :( It will not recognize Disk 2 in the physical drive or as an image with imgmount. The disks work fine in another emulator, and the game runs (though very poorly.) I tried copying the install directory (before running it after install,) but it …
