Re: Need major help with DOSBox!

Dosbox "pretends" a directory on your computer is an actual disk drive. To tell Dosbox what directory(folder) to use type this in the dosbox window. mount "drive letter you want dosbox to see" "path to folder you want dosbox to use" eg mount c c:\games When you type c: and press enter, the contents …

Re: List the PC games that you have beaten

System Shock 1 System Shock 2 Sacrifice Thief 1,2 The Summoner All about 12 billion times each : ) It would take the rest of ALL our lives to list the rest - I'm 41 and think I've spent more time playing computer games than NOT : ) PS ... Can you "beat" MMORPGs ? I've certainly battled many of them …

Re: Ultima7 install and Larry Midi

Wild guess, but is there a setsound.exe, or setup.exe, ir install.exe (or something similar) in Larry's install folder? Some old games used to have a seperate post install setup routine for configuring sound.

Re: you're winner

Funny isn't it - I met someone the other day who said the System Shock 1 was NOT the greatest game of all time, and undoubtedly not the greatest game that will EVER be made. This personal taste and individual sense of enjoyment thing has gone TOO FAR!!!!!1!

Re: Intel CPU woes.

I had a mate with really bad CPU overheating - he had a good sink and it was fitted correctly. We discovered he had DROWNED the CPU in heat-sink-goo instead of a really really thin film - we cleaned it off, put a tiny thin film on and it worked beautifully - prolly not helpful but something good to …

Re: Mouse locking gives strange results

Outrageous and silly things to try in linux when the mouse goes weird (I've had it as well) 1) Filthy ugly but can work (in freebsd with xorg 7.2 and dbox 7.1): In the Dosbox.conf file change sensitivity=100 to sensitivity=270, or even higher and/or 2) In the Dosbox.conf file change autolock=true to …

Re: X-COM 1 works in OS X!

hmm - I'm running DOSBox 0.72 in XP and I can't get the sound for the DOS version of X-COM working either. I've tried all the SB emulations and the Gravis - midi won't even pass though to the system's midi player. I haven't had this problem before. If you work it out, let me know.

Re: Resolution weirdness with two games

Miki Maus Try aspect=true in dosbox.conf. Thanks - that's cool - now to get the bloody Yackaty Sax Benny Hill theme out of my mind after playing the Wild West table : ) It's not the same, just the same enough to destroy your life when you remember the Benny Hill theme : ) Here - I'll destroy YOUR …

Re: Resolution weirdness with two games

I just took a look at Pinball Fantasies and yes - that is a weird effect - but I get it as well. I'd say the game programmers got "clever" - I've not see this weirdness before in DOSBox, but it self corrects. Playing in fullscreen you never see this - I assume setting output=overlay and windowsize= …

Re: Resolution weirdness with two games

OK - just had another look and I'd bet money. not much. just a little but I'd STILL gamble on it, that this is normal. As long as it looks really tall (like about three screens) when you select Low Resolution, I'd say it's correct. They appear to be using the same table graphic for both modes, so " …

Re: Resolution weirdness with two games

I just downloaded it and checked it out - I'm "guessing" that this is part of the game (but it might be a BDOX quirk. When I tell the game to play in high res in the game options screen the game plays as 2 screen high (a bit squishy) When I tell it to use low res, it is 3(ish) screens high (fast …

Re: Resolution weirdness with two games

Does psycho pinball have one of those video screens that slides up and down as the ball moves around the table? Like, then screen is drawn internally as two windows high, and the whole viewable area slides up and down to actually fit inside the screen depending and what part of the table the ball is …

Re: Word Perfect 5.1

Sounds like WB hit the nail with "Use those knobs and buttons of your monitor to move/resize the screen." Here's the long explanation ...... (I have no idea how liquid displays work - they will probably be the same as below, but that's a guess) CRT monitors often (usually) need to be tuned up for …
