ah... Terminal Velocity... what an awesome game that was! I somewhat remember the virge patch, need to check it again! I remember playing Desvent virge3D, it was OK... mainly it just added filtering AFAIR 😀

post a pic or two 😀 I have a desktop PS1/pro system, that I upgraded to 486slc2/40mhz from 386sx20... yours is a later system but I suspect this overdrive upgrade is not quite compatible...

I had a 233mhz 6x86 from Cyrix back then... windows perfomance was awesome, but gaming one was terrible... 6x86 was meant to replace the pentium1(mmx) cpus so comparing it to 486 architecture is not fair Plus IIRC the 6x86 had a large L2 cache (and ultra-weak FPU) so this can lead to troubles...

the main question for us IMHO is: are there any games that really require 486/100 or 5x86 that won't run on a pentium1 system? Obviously a windows95 setup would benefit, but perhaps those cpus can cause speed problems and perhaps make the need for a high-clocked 486 machine just a "luxury"

very interesting as I have both a 486/100 and 5x86/133 cpu... My mobo is of the latest isa/pci ones and supports both so I wonder what cpu to use... Would be nice to hear other ppl's experiences on the matter

I never seen this cpu upgrade... my 5x86/133mhz is a normal brown ceramic chip... does yours have a voltage regulator onboard amigo?

yes, the 2000pro is great, I had one when they where new on my p200mmx machine. Never had any probs with it :) The reason I got it was because I saw shots on a magazine that had CROC with virge/3D and software mode :D The virge3D shots where better LOL The card never failed me in windows or DOS. You might consider getting the Stealth3D 3000 that uses VRAM instead of DRAM 😀 I have 2000 and 3000, there is a speed boost 😀

nope, the DB50XG is a GM/XG daughterboard only... Just install DOOM and select general midi as music. you will immediatelly notice the difference. Or use the Duke Nukem 3D setup, that tests settings on the fly.
