I've never noticed my 690 having any problems with Direct X 9 games. Can you list a few that have problems so I can try them out on my machine?

I guess this would apply to any FX series card. The newest driver available for Windows XP is 175.19, which seems far too new. I gather that the performance of the FX cards improved over time, though, especially in PS 2.0 games. So older drivers might not necessarily be better. I use 3 versions for …

I just finished Might & Magic X : Legacy after about 60 hours. It's got some technical issues in places but overall it was a pretty well done faithful modern recreation of the early M&M games. Recommended for anyone who likes this type of gameplay.

Just tested the DVI-I output. Wavy lines are still there, and the image is much dimmer and less sharp overall. (Kind of was expecting that.) Oh well... the VGA output is so crisp and bright, it almost makes up for the distortion. Shame, it was worth trying, but you'll just have to trust me on that …

dvi and hdmi will not be subject to noise or the quality of the DAC or ADC of the gpu.
