Re: Master of Orion II (Windows Version)

in Windows
Ah, well you're lucky. The DOS version has a lot going for it these days. Still, even if it's not ideal at least I've got the windows version working now! Edit: more or less working; I keep on running into new graphical errors that I have to close and restart to fix, and sometimes Ihave to restart …

Re: Master of Orion II (Windows Version)

in Windows
I'm confused. MOO2 is one of the few games that comes in both a DOS and Windows 9x version. However, unlike other such games, both versions were not included same CD apparently (annoyingly). The original CD included both versions; there was a later re-release that included only a patched, windows …

Re: Master of Orion II (Windows Version)

Thanks; it's intensely frustrating not to be able to play one of my favorite games. I wish I could track down the DOS version, both because of the ease of use with DOSBOX and because of the 1.4 patch I just learned of.

Master of Orion II (Windows Version)

in Windows
Does anyone know how to get the windows version of Master of Orion II working under windows 7? Alas, the CD I have is the later, pre-patched 'DOS only' version so 'dosbox' is not a valid answer. Edit: Forgot the details! I've got graphics corruption and missing sound effects. I managed to get the …

Re: Couldn't find CD-ROM!!

going to the latest version of dosbox is what fixed the cdrom problem... rebooting the computer a couple of times seems to have solved the keyboard problem... Now, I just wish I could connect my computer to a sound system... ah, well. That'll have to wait untill I head back home with my computer. …

Re: Couldn't find CD-ROM!!

OK, I seem to have it working. It skips the intro movie, and keeps on dropping the keyboard (I hit a key, and it puts it into the buffer... when I exit the game, its all put out for MSDOS to process instead of the game. Or MSDOS procceses while the game is running...

Re: Couldn't find CD-ROM!!

No, this is the "get castles II working" section 😁 edit: Something *I'm* interested in 'cause my C2CD don't work. And I (think) I tried everthing suggested except the ripped version, which I don't even know how to get.

Re: Sorry to beat a dead horse.. Xcom Apoc; Install problems

in DOS
Good to hear. I'm still waiting for half-price books to drop the Windows X-COM collection price to see if the Windows version (if it really is a Windows version) will run properly. Gah. I think I misstated myself. CD music in lieu of sound... Mostly classical (THe ones on my AD CD primarily), but …

Re: Sorry to beat a dead horse.. Xcom Apoc; Install problems

in DOS
OK, I've been playing X-COm using CD music for sound. And I'm now glad I didn't get the sound working (yet!). I was listening to a CD of mine from last years Academic Decathalon, and I had a squad get pinned down. I wasn't paying attention because I thought they had it dealt with, and by the time I …

Re: Re: Sorry to beat a dead horse.. Xcom Apoc; Install problems

in DOS
Try running AIDA32 (the personal version). If you choose the ZIP version you don't even have to install it, just unzip and run the AIDA executable. X-Com Apocalypse has been a real pig when it comes to getting it to work properly. Best I was able to achieve was running it stably in Win98SE in …

Re: Sorry to beat a dead horse.. Xcom Apoc; Install problems

in DOS
Is my problem that bad, is everyone to busy to look into a "same-old same old" thread, or does nobody have a clue how to help? Or is it just that the main problem-fixers haven't had time to come to the board lately? Did I screw up on getting the information? edit: Yes, I did. I just realized I had a …

Sorry to beat a dead horse.. Xcom Apoc; Install problems

in DOS
First off, I'm not as familiar with the guts of my computer as I should be because its over 8 years old; while its been (repeatedly) updated, I don't have a nice and handy readout. All the data I have was accumulated from "My computer" properties and my (scattered) memories. Motherboard - IIRC, AMD …

Re: Comments on the screenshots of the cvs

Thanks! With the new version, I can even have sound effects! Now, I just have to figure out how to increase the speed... Running a 1.5 GHz processor, I should be able to run this a lot faster... Can you give me any hints? Ctrl F12 helps (a lot) but I end up with it slowing down before I get it up to …
