I actually prefer the black casings. The beige ones always go yellow. It's also easier to match black components.

The Plextor caddy loading drives are probably the nicest CD-ROM drives you can get. I was surprised at how quiet they are. Even my 32X CLV model is whisper silent.

A friend on mine and myself both had this board when they were new. For the most part it was a good board, but it seems that there was some kind of defect in the IDE controller that caused the slow death of ATA drives. Has anyone heard of this before?

I remember 98 being able to do it. I'm not sure about 95. It's possible that the B or C revision supported it, but I doubt it.

Yes, that is correct. The motherboard cache works as L2 cache. I also have a similar configuration on a 386SX motherboard that has 32kb cache, using a Cyrix SRx2 clip on chip with 1kb on die cache.

May I ask how the hell you got the 1MB Pentium Pros working in that board? I am pretty sure I had that exact setup, and I could not get the two to work together. I read several places on the internet saying there was a BIOS incompatibility.
