Re: Yamaha YMF7x4 Guide

Hi, I'm trying to add support for my PCI-ISA-Bridge on ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Via 8237) to SETUPDS.EXE - as far as I'm aware it should work as VT8237 has DDMA support, right? The PCI ID I'm trying to inject is 1106 / 3337. I replaced the 86 05 with 37 33 in the executable using a hex editor and it …

Sound Blaster LIVE DOS Joystick

Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible to use the joystick port of the SBLive in pure DOS? The system and card are working fantastically but I'd like to use my Gravis GamePad for some games and I just can't seem to convince any game to do so. Regards Eric

MSCLIENT connect to Windows 10 shares

Hi, I've had my system set up so that Windows 9x, NT, etc. all can connect to my Win10 shares just fine, provided that on 9x I make a user with the same credentials as the one on my Win10 machine. Before I invest a lot of time into this, I was wondering if this is also possible from DOS. Best wishes …

Re: Stop SB Vibra 16C from blocking I/O 388

OK here's an update. After messing around with this machine with elianda, we found out that these configuration options actually do nothing at all. The Yamaha OPL3-SAX configuration program (SETUPSA.EXE) conciously reconfigures the SB16PnP to OPL3 port 0x398 . Something the official Creative tools …

Re: Shadows of the Empire on OLD PC = headache

I've managed to construct a patch. See attachment or the link below. http://oerg866.tototek.com/SHADOWS_crashfix.zip This fixes the black screen + cursor freeze for Shadows of the Empire on a lot of old PCs. Technical details: The game get stuck at the following code (0xA50AB in the file): .text: …

Shadows of the Empire on OLD PC = headache

Hi guys, I've been trying to get Shadows of the Empire to run on some of my older machines here, the subject in question is a PIII 933 on a BX board, 256MB and a SB Vibra 16C. Running Windows 98 SE stock. I'm trying a lot of different cards and the game just won't work properly. The closest match to …

Re: Stop SB Vibra 16C from blocking I/O 388

I've managed to do it. You have to modify the CTPNP file: [EXCLUDE] Exclude_Port=288-288 [SB16] (...) Port2=398 And then you run both SETUPSA.EXE (for the Yamaha card) and CTCM.EXE in your Autoexec.bat, before loading Windows. If you set both cards' PnP options to "Set resources automatically", it …

Re: Stop SB Vibra 16C from blocking I/O 388

I'm stuck here. Any ideas? Yes, get rid of the Vibra card. I don't get why you want to add a second card just for OPL3? Because I can....? :P And because I cannot stand the emulated OPL sound... I'd hate to ditch the Vibra, as I want the best possible Sound Blaster (16) compatibility without …

SB16/AWE32 PnP FM port can be moved to 0x398h

Hi, I have a machine set up with a CT2960 Vibra 16. I really don't like the OPL emulation that the Vibra chip implements, and I'd rather have another card with a genuine OPL for that. We're talking Windows 98 for now. I have tried three different solutions: YMF718-based ISA card, YMF740-based PCI …
