Re: Please explain about virtual machines

I use virtual machines to play older games just like you, especially Windows 9x games and 2000/XP games. Well, VMWare workstation 7, did have the black borders and it filled the screen just like VMWare Workstation 9. With borders on both sides. What I would like to see is something like Virtualbox's …

Re: Please explain about virtual machines

Thank you for your explenation. It is much appreciated. It made clear unanswered questions to me.About the second monitor and VRAM, I know that VMWare is just a program, but what counts is the result and what the host gpu "understands" when the Virtual Display appears. Thanks for helping me to make …

Re: Please explain about virtual machines

I have experimented for a long time with virtual machines with various apps like vmware, vpc, virtualbox and i have found out that the host graphics card is indeed used by the virtual machine although it is not passed through.I mean when a game is running inside the vm the gpu core shows great …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I have searched a little bit around to see if there are any DOSBox frontends comparable to D-Fend Reloaded. Well, there ae not any! That's why it is important to support the work that Alexander does. I have switched back to the 1.1 version and I will wait for the sevice 1.2 release next week.

Re: Win98SE setup

The VMs are just there in order to run older Windows! Of course they will support Windows XP, just like now that they support Windows 9.x. Just try a non 3D game in VMware and you will see how great it is working.

Re: Win98SE setup

VMware or Virtual Box may not have 3D acceleration support for Windows 9x, but at least VMware supports it officialy. VMWare has a 3D acceleration feature for Windows 2000 and above. They do install and run just fine. But i think that if one day DOSBox manages to support Windows 9x there will be a …

Re: Help with installing 7th guest on vista

You have to run the windows patch in windows 95 compatibility mode! This is what i did in Windows XP and it runs perfectly. It should work with Windows Vista too. I did it this way: 1) Installed the game with DOSBox 2) Copied the patch in the installed game folder 3) set the patch in Windows 95 …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hi Alexander! I have downloaded and tried the beta version of D-Fend reloade .8.0. What i am mostly interested in are the basic changes for the usage with DOSBox 0.73. Great work really! However there is an option which i do not really understand. In the Drive mounting section of the Setup Wizard …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I know that there are many changes  But the grafics-issue was the most important i think. The cycles worked fine for me in the games that i tested, sound too. I also tested other games which run problematically with older versions of DOSBox and they run like a charme with D-Fend Reloaded and …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hi Alexander!D-Fend Reloaded v.0.8.0 is needed sooner as expected  You see, the new supported graphic-modes ( the simple vga support was simply not enough any more) and the improved core emulation mode are making the release of the new d-fend reloaded version more than necessary. It will be …

Re: DOSBox 0.73 Discussion

I wanted to report tha Jack Orlando DOES run indeed with DOSBox 0.73 and without any tweaking with additional VESA drivers. This game is just a good exercise to understand how do the new supported graphic modes work. In order to get the game working i had to do the following... 1) I installed the …
