Just providing some more information, even though I don't think it's related to the problem: 1.5 gigs of ram, 3.0ghz pentium 4 with hyperthreading, Intel Desktop Board, GeForce 6600gt, soundblaster live! sound card. Can't think of anything else remotely relevant.
