Re: Voodoo 3 and drivers

in DOS

Re: Recommend a PCI Sound Card for DOS

in Marvin \ Sound
PCI soundcards are not the best choice for a pure DOS system. The drivers are always not 100% compatible (SB AudioPCI and Live! lock the computer often in DOS mode). There were some motherboards with a SB-link (a wire to connect to early SB PCI) which might improve compatibility slightly, and also …

Re: No One Lives Forever: Game of the Year

As I said, for now the driver works. It's more than I could say with the SB Live! original driver. My problem was that I couldn't load soundfonts nor play with the DSP effects, because most times the programs didn't work and I had to reinstall drivers. The driver of the kx project didn't appear to …

Re: No One Lives Forever: Game of the Year

http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/ Back to the topic: yesterday, I tried with my logitech headset thingy (actually, the headset that came bundled with SOCOM II for PS2) and it worked well. And after disable and re-enable the SB Live in the device manager, the game works well. So it seems that it's …

Re: No One Lives Forever: Game of the Year

in Windows
It seems that the game works in Linux perfectly (after cracked). I'll guess I'll play it in Linux for now... YouP-Pax drivers enables a SB Live! to use the Audigy apps. "Official" drivers from my CD don't work well with XP, and updates from creative sometimes screws with some apps bundled with them …

No One Lives Forever: Game of the Year

in Windows
I've installed this game again, and the sound is failing (it sounds like a computer CD in an audio player). I've some googling, but I've only found some sound issues regarding NOLF2. Has anyone had a problem like that? How did you solve it? I'm trying to run it with this configuration: - AMD64 X2 …

Re: Proprietary 3D API's

in PC Emulation
I don't know... maybe you could download the patch from www.patches-scrolls.de and check it with ATI. And I remember playing Final Fantasy VII with ATI and Voodoo cards. There are some patches that would help (1.04), but my Geforce 7900 can not do 8 bit textures, so I can not set the hardware …

Re: Proprietary 3D API's

in PC Emulation
I think NV1 at least is supported in Tomb Raider and Unfinished Business. Other cards suported in this games are ATI Rage Pro, Rendition Verite, Matrox Mystique, PowerVR, S3 Virge and Voodoo (did anyone know that 😉 ). I don't know if there is another compatibility list...

Re: FreeDOS vs. OpenDOS

in DOS
Not exactly, but if you plan using real DOS to play games and you have a sound card that it's not sound blaster compatible in hardware, you won't get any sound. For emulation purposes, any sound card will do the trick.
