Re: VESA modes for /etc/fb.modes

No, there isn't. It's a NV50 chip. NV50 is not supported by nvidiafb, and nouveau, the new nvidia framebuffer/driver, doesn't allow arbitrary framebuffer refresh rates from from fbset. If you guys know about another native framebuffer for NV50 cards, then tell me 😀

Re: VESA modes for /etc/fb.modes

@TeaRex: Thanks a lot, but I've found out that I just can't use arbitrary video modes with arbitrary frequencies on the UVESAFB framebuffer in Linux (I should have read that before trying to specify those custom modes in /etc/fb.modes) That said, I need another solution to make MODE-X games …

Setting mode-x refresh rate within dosbox

Hello there Is there any way to set mode-x games refresh rate within DOSBOX? In the host side, I can only use certain refresh rate frequencies since I'm using a Linux framebuffer. I've tried Univbe, but the Unicentr utility doesn't allow me to change refresh rates like I would on a real S3 machie. …

Re: VESA modes for /etc/fb.modes

Ok, but I have another doubt related to DOS video modes: Why does /etc/fb.modes say 320x200 is 85HZ? Does it make any sense from dosbox's viewpoint? I mean, isn't mode13h 320x200@70 and mode-x 320x240@60HZ? Why are both modes listed as 85HZ all around the net??

VESA modes for /etc/fb.modes

I'm running Dosbox with the SDL API running on Directfb, wich in turn runs on the uvesafb framebuffer. It's a great solution, with minimal overhead. In fact it uses less CPU % that the OpenGL backend on Nvidia binary drivers (almost 5% faster than OpenGL in Super Frog and Jazz Jackrabbit). To …

looking for IMGMOUNT out of DosBox or similar tool

Hello there!! DosBOX in Gentoo Linux with openGL is perfect! So I would like to use one of it's features out of dosbox itself: I would like to use IMGMOUNT or a similar tool to mount mixed mode cd images on Linux, for wine usage with games like Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter, etc , wich have 1 data …

DOS games with tracker music

Hello there! I'm a happy dosbox user on Linux (Gentoo) with OpenGL and perfect scroll/sound on custom video modes! So all I've to do now is discover some of the greatest DOS games ever. I specially like game music, and I'm an Amiga lover, so I prefer module music. I'm trying to find a list of games …

vgaonly mode and dynamic cpu core

Is it possible to have vgaonly core and dynamic cpu core? Does it really work? I believe the level of CPU accuracy needed for vgaonly mode could make dynamic core impossible....but... are they working at the same time? Thanks!

Re: Dosbox 0.73 and GUS emulation CPU usage

Yes, I supose FM synthesis emulation is more CPU-demanding as it requires realtime waveform calculation as opossed to pre-recorded PCM samples played by a GUS. That's for MIDI, but correct me if I'm wrong. But I was talking about PCM channels only: let's say a game uses PCM for music & effects ( …
