Re: USB Floppy Drive not recognised

Azarien I added 'mount A A:\ -t floppy' to my dosbox-x.conf. Trying to open a:\ in WIndows 3.1 gives 'Drive A does not exist'. Since my USB drive seems somewhat unreliable I am considering using VFD, creating a 'virtual' floppy drive. Do you this might work? And will I need to use the MOUNT command? …

USB Floppy Drive not recognised

Although this is about DOSBox-X I'm not sure whether the problem is only related to DOSBox-X so I'm posting here. I am running Windows 3.1 for Workgroups in DOSBox-X and am trying to install Lotus Improv. The installation program requires the use of a floppy drive. I have a USB drive attached as …

USB Floppy drive not recognised

I am running Windows 3.1 for Workgroups in DOSBox-X and am trying to install Lotus Improv. The installation program requires the use of a floppy drive. I have a USB drive attached as A:\. When I boot in to Win 3.1 and click on the A: drive in File Manager I get a message to the effect that the A: …

Re: DOSBox-x

Most likely your issue is that with modern DOSBox-X versions there are now directories on the Z: drive, so if you [autoexec] assumed a binary to be in the root of the Z: drive, it no longer is. Instead look in a directory such as Z:\DOS for the mode utility to set screen columns and lines. Rob …

DOSBox-x

I know this forum is for DOSBox but I cannot find any forum to post queries about DOSBox-x. Is there one? I'll post my issue anyway since someone may know the solution. I am running DOSBox-x in Windows 10, screen resolution 3840 x 2160. Prior to updating to the latest version (release 0.83.15, July …

Re: Increase window size

I've realised I have made an error - assuming that anything after # was a comment I had stuff like windowresolution=1024x768 #600x400 so DOSBox was not accepting the window resolution parameter as a valid entry. It's fixed now - thanks to all who offered solutions.

Re: Increase window size

Thanks. This is how I got a larger window: fullscreen=false fulldouble=false fullresolution=1920x1200 windowresolution=1024x768 output=ddraw autolock=true sensitivity=100 waitonerror=true priority=higher,normal mapperfile=mapper-0.74.map usescancodes=true Is mapper-0.74.map your own mapper file? I …

Increase window size

I'm running DOSBox on a Windows7 laptop. The DOSBox window takes up about 1/3 of the screen. Is there anyway I can increase the DOSBox window to fill the W7 screen? I'm not interested in increasing screen resolution - just the physical size of the DOSBox window (with the fonts looking larger as a …

Concurrent DOS 386

I have read this guide Install DOS in DOSBox which indicates a number of DOSes that can be installed in DOSBox, including DR-DOS. Can anyone confirm whether or not DR's Concurrent DOS 386 can also be installed within DOSBox? Thanks in advance.

Re: O.T.? - Expanded Memory

Have you tried EMS Magic, then? Just to end this one - I received the following from the developer of EMS Magic in response to my query: "Unfortunately Javelin is incompatible with EMS Magic, due to Javelin's extensive use of data aliasing. This means it maps the same logical memory page to …

Re: O.T.? - Expanded Memory

Qbix: yes, I have done a lot of searching on this. There seem to be certain PC setups where areas of memory are 'stolen' for various devices thus causing EMS emulation not work. As I said originally DOSBox works for me - I was interested in how DOSBox achieves EMS emulation.

Re: O.T.? - Expanded Memory

Qbix: I have the following entries in config.nt: dos=high, umb device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys files=40 buffers=100 device=%systemroot%\system32\ansi.sys emm=ram Opening an XP command window and typing 'mem' gives: 655360 bytes total conventional memory 655360 bytes available to MS-DOS 625840 …
