Re: Caps Lock issues, and a suggested fix

@ripa: Are you using the latest SDL.DLL? I can confirm that the solution I offered does work (with the latest SDL.DLL) BRICKS.EXE game under WinXP. It shouldn't be necessary to do any remapping, so I don't know why you would want to map the Caps Lock key to the Ctrl key.

Caps Lock issues, and a suggested fix

A problem in SDL prior to version 1.2.14 was causing the behaviour of the LOCK key to not work as it should have. Instead of returning the up/down key status it was returning the toggled state and so caused problems with games that used it. The current workaround is to issue the command: set SDL_ …

>The earliest PC games are the ones that could most benefit from counting clocks, I think. Yes, they are the ones I play the most ;-) >Which PC emulator are you talking about that has cpi accurate emulation? I meant emulators in general, rather than specifically IBM PC emulators. >Always appreciated …

Re: Pango joystick not working

So, is there some reason that DOSBox *doesn't* calculate the proper timings of each instruction in cycles, like every other emulator I can think of? I assume it's because this would make the emulation overhead slightly higher, but is this really such an issue in 2010? To lose a small bit of speed in …

Re: Pango joystick not working

Those settings you mentioned do appear to work under V0.72. (Speed seems about right but it is difficult to tell whether it is running at 4.77MHz like it should be, it would be better IMHO to measure the speed in MHz rather than arbitrary "cycles".) But the joystick doesn't seem to work at all under …

Pango joystick not working

Whenever you stop moving the joystick, the penguin runs to the right. The joystick has been calibrated under Windows and works fine with other games. I've tried changing the timed= variable in the config file, it makes no difference. Tried this under Win98 and now under WinXP. I suppose what's …

>Which begs the question, outside of just for sh*ts and giggles, why would you want to run an emulator inside an emulator? Why not the right port of DOSBox for the host system? My primary OS is AmigaOS 3.9. I run it on a P4/2400 under WinUAE for performance reasons. If you have your system set up to …

Re: GPL Violations Detected

Wow, fast replies around here :-) >It's also the slowest platform where the fastest CPU is a 50mhz 68060. Porting DOSBox to such platform doesn't really make much sense. Unless you enjoy a lot of stuttering, of course. That's for hardware Amigas, emulated Amigas can run much faster. And slow …

GPL Violations Detected

There have been various ports of DOSBox to Amiga. But none of these ports have included the source code or any possibility of obtaining the source code. www.os4depot.net/emulation/computer/dosbox.lha (DOSBox 0.65CVS for AmigaOS 4.x) www.aminet.net/misc/emu/DOSBox_0.63_MOS.lha (DOSBox_0.63 for …

Re: Full screen resolution bug

Setting the variable mentioned doesn't fix the problem but does change the behaviour: Now when I try to switch to full-screen mode, the window client area goes completely black for a few seconds, then closes (without an error message). I will look for an upgraded driver for my card.

Full screen resolution bug

Bug report: When I go into full screen mode, the resolution goes to 640x480 in 256 colours, and stays there permanently even after switching back, so I have to go into Control Panel each time to change the resolution back to what it was. I use CGA in DOSBox.
