Re: MUS-1099 GameBlaster Sound Card

Hi @gerpux, thanks for your interest in my modifications of the original board! I leave here the Eagle project and the gerber files, just in case anyone is interested in sending them for manufacturing, or making further improvements. You rock @davidmorom, that's the spirit! Thanks a lot for sharing …

Re: Dethkarz no music

in Windows
I just tried UltraISO Virtual CD, both in Windows 10 and Windows XP (virtual machine), and only the data track is mounted, media players don't recognise any audio tracks in the drive. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think UltraISO is capable of playing audio tracks at all. Yes, you can …

Re: Dethkarz no music

in Windows
What software are you using to mount the BIN/CUE? Very few supports playing CD-DA audio tracks correctly. I only know of Daemon Tools (terribly bloated and ad-wared), and ImgDrive. I recommed the later, is free and very light, and works perfectly fine with CD-DA games. Also keep in mind that most …

Re: Fix for Pandemonium! on Voodoo 3

in Windows
For MechWarrior 2 it also works, but the simplifications I made to the LFB emulation code are game breaking, so the original unmodified code from kjliew must be used (I attach a build of the original code). But there is an important consideration to have in mind, with this wrapper the performance on …

Fix for Pandemonium! on Voodoo 3

in Windows
I want to share a way I found to run Pandemonium! in glide mode with Voodoo 3/Banshee and, maybe, Voodoo 4 and 5. All the credit must go to kjliew, who a couple of years ago, as part of his qemu-3dfx project, wrote a glide.dll to glide2x.dll wrapper (https://github.com/kjliew/qemu-xtra/). By using …

Re: Dethkarz GOG

in Windows
This game, as many others from that era, uses CD-DA for music, so GOG includes a WINMM.DLL wrapper for playing music from hard drive. This wrappers are too recent to work on Win9x, and even XP, so they show a lot of DLL or runtime link errors. Sometimes they also include DirectDraw/Direct3D wrappers …

Re: Star Wars Episode I: Racer (aka Podracer)

Hello everyone! Is anyone still interested in this game? It's one of my favorite games from my childhood. I remember, like it was yesterday, playing with a 4MB S3 Virge/DX, at 512x384, glitched textures and about 5 fps. It was a pain, but I liked the game so much that I completed it this way. One …

Re: DOSBox game blaster emulation vs. SAAYM

I've just tested with DOSBox r4481, DOSBox ECE r4481 and DOSBox-X 2022.09.0 and all of the presents the same incorrect behaviour. As and example, I attach a record of the Monkey Island 1 intro, taken directly from my CMS clone with two real SAA1099 chips, which sounds exactly as 86box and PCem …

Johnny Bazookatone Blackscreen Fix

Hi everyone! Recently I've been adding some games to my MS-DOS collection, and found a very weird situation with Johnny Bazookatone. This game has some kind of incompatibility with the DOSBox implementation of MSCDEX, and the game only shows a black screen, getting stuck on an infinite loop issuing …

Re: Windows 98 virtual machine installation error

I faced the same problem a couple of years ago. When you get that error, you have to reboot in safe mode, and from System settings on Control Panel, Performance, File System, Troubleshooting, Disable 32 bits protected mode disk drivers (I'm not sure if these names are correct, my installation is in …

Re: MUS-1099 GameBlaster Sound Card

Hello everyone! Recently I discovered this thread, and decided to spend some money and time building this CMS clone. Now I want to share my experience, hoping it could be useful for anyone. First of all, I want to thank Sergey and Tronix from vcfed for reversing the logic on the original CMS card, …

Re: Wipeout XL/2097 broken on 2.63 and newer

Hi Dege! Is nice to see some light about this topic. Once more time, you are the best fixing what original devs screwed decades ago. I tested your patched executable in my XL installation, and it worked flawlessly. It can even be NoCD patched using the patches released back then. Regarding the …

Re: Wipeout XL/2097 broken on 2.63 and newer

Tried that executable on a XL installation and on a 2097 installation (had to rename several files), and it works on both of them, but ¿where is this executable from? It is NoCD patched and is completely different from XL and 2097 original EXEs from the CD images. This executable don't display the …

Re: Wipeout XL/2097 broken on 2.63 and newer

I guess that is because the excecutable is from 2097 and your installation is from XL. Try renaming "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Psygnosis\Studios\WipeoutXL" to "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Psygnosis\Studios\Wipeout2097" (my installation uses that name). Don't know if there are other differences between version which may …
