Re: Balls of Steel Very Slow Ball Physics

By the way, you can right click on the banner to reveal some hidden options. Play around with those, maybe try borderless window. This is probably yet another W11 issue, it has broken compatibility with a bunch of things. I don't get the cursor on my end in 10.

Re: Balls of Steel Very Slow Ball Physics

If you run it through dgvoodoo with an app that shows the framerate, you'll see it's running at 120 fps without vsync. And you don't need a 120 hz monitor for that. You played it at that framerate back then too, you just never noticed. The retail CD 1.3 and the GOG version both run smoothly for me …

Actually never tried The Simpsons: Hit & Run, but the extensive PCGamingWiki article on it suggests it should work. It absolutely does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6KbvEJIBAM I have nearly 100 games for 98 and XP currently running natively in W10 with or without community fixes or wrappers. …

Re: Screen tearing issue

This is an approximation based on benchmarks. Dosbox-X claims that Pentium 75 mhz is ~43500 cycles. Also check out the table at the bottom of this page: https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Performance But like I said, it's just an approximation and benchmark tests might not be accurate either. There is no …

Re: Screen tearing issue

in DOSBox General
@rex0: That is really odd, what I recommended was more than twice what the manual I linked to stated. That's because you're wrong. Dosbox cycles aren't directly equivalent to processor speed in mhz. 7500 cycles does not equal 75 mhz. For 75 mhz you need closer to 50 000 cycles. As for tearing, I …

Did some testing. Game runs natively. Installed 1.5 and 1.6 patch. Mission 2 of US campaign loads fine. Check your disc, you may have corrupted files. Edit: looks like there is a problem with the mouse cursor hiding under UI. Dunno how to fix that.

Have you tried dgvoodoo2 and ddrawcompat? I remember there were some issues last time I tried to play it, but I don't recall how I resolved them.
