BTW, the POSReady 2009 updates for Jet 4.0 seems to have the same problem as the Windows 7 updates in requiring SSE2, given that they are based on the same code. This will not show until you actually run something like Access 2003 that uses Jet 4.0.

The problem is that this used APM power off, and officially APM is not supported with APIC/SMP (though Linux had a hack to support APM power-off with SMP).

That is a matter of DRAM addressing. In general the "symmetric" addressing like 10 by 10, 11 by 11, and 12 by 12 should be better supported.

Unfortunately I don't think the Intel chipsets support 512/576Mbit RDRAM, so you would be stuck with only 1GB of RAM. I wonder if the SiS chipsets would.
