Buy the original game instead of using a pirated copy. So-called "Abandonware" will not be supported on VOGONS. The game runs perfectly well in DOSBox, no matter how many times it's restarted (the game and/or DOSBox). After I saw your post I did go to eBay and Amazon and saw that there are copies …
