I don't bother with the first edition of 98, Second Edition with ME upgrades is what I always run.

I believe it has 94 dates on it. Edit: Just checked, 07/01/1994 manufacturing date. It is still in the condition I received it in. I believe it's original, other than missing the HDD and memory.

My Vtech Laser XT Turbo has the famous ST225, though I have never gotten it to read. The motherboard has been in the repair pile for a while, been hacking away at it over the years. Doesn't need too much more.

Nice, I use an M-Audio Delta 1010 (uses a PCI interface and rack unit connected with a DB-25 cable). It works with pretty much everything too. I'm using it with an Athlon X4 and Debian 10. It has 8 pairs of balanced 1/4" inputs, SPDIF, and MIDI. You probably won't find one for 5 bucks though.

Just received this guy today, going to cut my teeth networking with Linux. 4 port gigabit ethernet. The motherboard I'm using is a Tyan S2707, Socket 478 533Mhz bus with 133Mhz PCI-X, so a bit of an odd one. Just waiting on my 4GB of ECC DDR266 to come in the mail.

No problem. Happens to the best of us. Although I realized I put 3dlabs instead of 3dfx. I guess brain farts can be helpful sometimes.

I agree with the above. Looks pretty good still. My worst patient was a Vtech Laser Turbo XT, had the battery on an expansion card. Leaked all over the cache sockets. At least they weren't populated.

Always thought it was peculiar these boards and many 440*X boards had 3 RAM slots. Indeed. Do the floppy controllers on 775 boards still support dual disk drives? You didn't mention an FDD but if I wanted something for DOS games, I would want to be able to use the disk if I had stumbled upon one. Also, PCI-e wasn't common until 98 was dead and buried. Even ME was a distant memory. I …

I really like my MSI MS-6112 board.It's an LX chipset though, so you won't be able to run the FSB @ 100mhz. 4 ISA slots is the main reason I'm using it, with a 333MHz PII (no fan on the heatsink either). You want to match the farad value and have the voltage rating listed or higher. Need to be electrolytic too, which is what the "long barrel kind" are called. Make sure you don't install them backwards.
