I'm back! Again!

in Milliways
First of all, I'd like to say a big f*cking thank you to Maxtor & the power company. Without your sterling assistance, I never would have experienced the joy of 3 massive power surges, and total harddrive failure! Thanks guys! You f*cking suck! Thats right. More powersurges. Took out entire 30gig …

Powercuts & Window's CD's

Short version ----------------- I've been gone for over a month and now I'm back! Long version ---------------- October 24'th: Massive powercut where I live. It lasted for roughly 4 hours, and when it was over, my hard drives where nicely corrupted. October 27'th: Managed to locate a working Windows …

Magic: The Gathering

in Windows
I can't get this f**ker to work. At all. I run it, and it does absolutely nothing. Zip. Nada. I've never even managed to catch it appearing in task manager's process list. Checking out NTCompatible, I see only one steady method people have reported working... Originally posted by Intlharvester …

Re: Grand Theft Auto

Anyway, GTA: I should be able to release a new version of Glidos later today or tomorrow. Fantastic:) This should kill my current problem with playing GTA... namely that the DOS version will only run in low colour, and the windows version runs *way* to fast, and is horribly jerky at the same time. …

Re: Grand Theft Auto

Getting back to GTA, I'm confused as to exactly how the video improves with Glide..? FWIW, I didn't exactly see a difference between 1600x1200 software mode and 1600x1200 Glide mode, and that was when I *had* a Voodoo^2. When you have a banshee and a low-res monitor, Glide makes all the difference …

Beautiful find Stiletto, works perfectly now:) Also, from the readme... Finally found that this was fixable by turning off DDraw acceleration, but... that's a hack imho. So turning off DirectDraw acceleration may be a fix for other games that have this prob. Woohoo, I'm off to play X-Com :)

X-Com: UFO Defense (Gold Edition)

in Windows
I've just managed to obtain this version of UFO Defense, and was really really pleased with myself. I thought I'd finally be able to play UFO at proper speed. Unfortunately, It doesn't seem to work. It runs, but... well... here's a screenshot. http://www.chanza.fsnet.co.uk/xcom.jpg Has anyone …

Finally found a walkthrough. Turned out I wasn't supposed to. I was "supposed to" wait until the first group of elven made the delivery offer, murder them, then track down the second group and murder them, keep all the artifacts/weapons for myself. ROFL Tell that to the game's creators. It took …

Saying that gives away your age. You have no way of knowing what "bad" truly is until you been forced to play "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" on the Atari 2600. I actually sat here staring at my post before i posted it, wracking my brains for a worse game... and I honestly couldn't think of one:) Okay …

Ugh, max payne was the worst game I ever played:) And the secret to a good engine is customisability. I mean, compare the quake engine to max payne. It's easy to write mods for, you can do whatever the hell you want with it, and it's open source. Oh, and it has multiplayer (good multiplayer. Not …

I played UT at 1920X1440 with the GF3.GF4. It was only with the 9700 that I was finally able to achieve that magic 2048 number. You're still a git:) For some reason thats totally beyond me, I could always reach 1600 on this monitor with my Voodoo Banshee. My GF, however, only appears to go up to …

When Unreal Tournament first came out GLIDE WAS better than D3D/OGL for UT. Nowdays OGL/D3D is better. This I know. It was still a pretty drastic shock to lose all my beloved fps at the time though:) Heck, on my GF3 I know I was running UT fine @2048X1536 with all details and it was in the upper …

Pah, you're missing the point. It *sounds* impressive:) "Hey DosFreak, I just bought a new computer from PC World! It's better than yours I bet!" "Oh really? What is it?" "A Compaq! Whats yours?" Re: A quick Mac question...

Hmn, tricky. I know of plenty of Win32 file splitters, but I havent seen any Mac ones. I' say your best bet would be StuffIt Expander... of course, afaicr, the Mac version of it is 5meg or so, so getting it onto your Mac could be a problem, unless you've already got it... It's a pretty standard …

This has my vote for most insane and pointless scheme ever. Congratulations, you win my respect. The last person to win that award thought a good way to learn how to program games was to open their executables. In notepad. I thought that was unbeatable:) I mean, seriously, aside from the sheer …

Re: NESticle

ZSnes never sucked ass snover, 'twas always the king:) Snes9X is just awful though, add to that the fact that it hasnt been updated for aeons, and there's no contest.
