Re: Post your 'current' PC

So my 3770K system up and died a few months back. The motherboard decided it was going to fry every chip that was placed in it. And I was an idiot and did my diagnosis wrong and in the process fried both an i3, and a celeron in that socket before I realized it was the motherboard was the problem …

Because this is much better suited topic, then retro one for parts like this, I will re-post it here. My first (Veloci)Raptor! It will end up in my "retro" PC , with Windows XP on it. Old raptors are really only useful if you pair a bunch together, single-drive they're kinda "Meh" vs modern drives …

Re: Post your 'current' PC

You might want to seriously consider propping up the end of that gpu with something.. anything.. that already has terrible GPU sag, almost the whole PCB on the video card looks warped already. Yeah, its like this from day one. I do have a wooden skewer as a support :D I just didn't include it in …

Re: Post your 'current' PC

Just so ya know, PCIE slot damage is actually a serious concern due to excessive gpu sag. I had a HD4890 that was worse than what we see above in this thread, and I had a "Slightly deformed" PCIE slot after just one year of use. Not quite as bad as below because I caught it and supported it on the …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

But the whole issue here... I think some how everyone is missing it. The original SIMMConn, worked with every different ram module that exists. I've never found a single module to -NOT- work with it. And it works in MS-DOS DIAGNOSE, it works in windows 9x and windows 3.11 to load sound fonts, all …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

Hi All, I bought the Universal Simmconn adapter from DreamBlaster and it came with only 1 jumper. I have not tried it yet, if it is true that both Jp1 and Jp2 need to have 2-3 covered, then I need a another jumper. Anyone know where I can find additional jumpers for cheap price, and the right size? …

With the noise that thing makes when running.. I'm sure you'll have a problem hiding it from her. Those things scream about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. They're really not designed for home use. That.. and I'm pretty sure you'll have to use multiple different circuits in the house just to power it …

One week ago i got a cheap HP Proliant DL580 G7 with two Xeon X7560 cpus, 8GB ram, 2x 1200w PSUs. Wanted to spec it up with two more CPUs, more ram and two extra PSUs. Ended up today buying another fully loaded server with 4x X7550 cpus, 32GB ram and 4x 1200w PSU for a god price. Even ordered some …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

With me I don't have any other sticks to test I don't think.. I thought I had more kingston 32MB ones but not finding any now that I looked last night. But the one I have, I demonstrated it works with the original simmconn, so it should with this one. Which is most confusing for me. Yeah, It seems …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

Well mine doesn't work either apparently.. I actually own one of the original SiMMConn's, the ones created by Luck Star Co, LTD, for the AWE64 Value. I made a series of videos but basically, same jumpers in the same position on both PCB's, exact same memory module (Kingston) on both PCB cards. Works …

Well it was for a socket 478 presshot chip. I dont overclock anymore. Just isn't worth the hassle for 5 more fps in gal-civ3. For me it's about reduction of noise. There's two ways you can go about running a video card. "The normal way" which may have fans as much as 70% - 80% speed to run a gpu at …

I did watercooling once. Full out setup from danger den. Dropped like $400 total, for about 4 degrees cooler. So you can say it burned me pretty badly. It's a huuuuuuuuge difference today. I was having idle temps around 40c - 45c and load temps in ark evolved about mid-70's, 75c - 77c range before …

Yep, EK Block from EKWEB. :) Loving it. Updated my post up there with more info for you. I went with pure copper here to try and maintain a pure-copper loop so there's as little galvanic corrosion as possible. Bronze (copper alloy) radiator, nickel-plated copper cpu waterblock and fittings, and pure …

Yeah I hard grate things about the 1080ti cards. By the way what block is that? https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-geforce-gtx-fe Also with proper matching backplate as well: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-1080-gtx-ti-backplate-nickel My crappy stupid little video trying to show it in better detail …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

Y'all should just pick up a few Kingston 72-pin 32MB chips. I haven't tested mine yet with the simmconn revival, but I have 6 x kingston 32MB 72-pin modules in a box in the other room. Kingston is pretty much generally guaranteed to always work with everything. That's usually the big point of their …

Re: Bought this (Modern) hardware today

I have no idea why that chip's missing, it's just how nvidia chose to do it. I'm guessing here, but I do think that the 1080 Ti's being 352-bit ram configuration, this is how they limited it to that. The titan X and Titan Xp cards are 384-bit memory configuration. I think they probably have that …
