Re: Voodoo (2) Graphics driver for Grand Theft Auto

in DOS
GTA1 comes with the 3dfx 1 driver standard installed. Make sure your 3dfx installation path is in your PATH environment variable (if you have installed your 3dfx 2 drivers in for instance C:\3dfx, add the line PATH=C:\3dfx;%PATH% in C:\autoexec.bat), and delete the glide2x.ovl file(s) in your GTA1 …

Re: Will any dos game work on THIS LAPTOP!!!

in DOS
What exactly are you talking about? http://threeclicks.com/powertoys.htm A part of Powertoys, TweakUI, gives you the option to configure Windows 98 to boot directly to real DOS instead of Windows. Oh, TweakUI! I guess I forgot that was included on the Windows 98 CD (but it was ). Anyway, all it …

Re: Will any dos game work on THIS LAPTOP!!!

in DOS
With this sound card you can even enable wavetable emulation! Which sounds neat with Duke3d (in setup, choose AWE32 to enable this) ESS1688 isn't a Sound Blaster AWE32/64, and you're probably thinking of General MIDI -> Microsoft Synthesizer As I read it somewhere, there was a DOS program that …

3com's 3+menus

in DOS
Hello all, In the days of yore I used this menu system. It was a menu system that was part of the 3+Open/Share system, a precursor of MS LAN manager. It has sentimental value to me but I can't find it anywhere on the net, only that it's total and utter abandonware. Anyone still has it/knows where to …

Re: "Pure" DOS benefits over Windows MS-DOS Mode?

in DOS
I haven't faced incompatibilities yet in win'98 booted in dos mode, even very old xt games that don't have speed issues, work on it like a charm. Or configuration-hell games like Turrican II works like a charm.

Re: USB keyboard driver for DOS?

in DOS
I have used quite some new (Logitech, Microsoft, Trust) keyboards with a USB->PS/2 converter and they all did work fine (also with things like ctrl-alt-del). However, I've had a hard time finding a mouse that works with the PS/2 port.

Re: Start menu

in DOSBox General
Does anyone know (where to find) a menu system called "+3 menus" (or it might have been called "3+ menus". I used it 'back in the days' and I'd love to have it back. I'd be so grateful 😀

Re: I fear I blew up my GUS and/or motherboard

in DOS
No, I missed that :s-face: I have used StarCommander in real DOS mode for transferring images to my commodore drive; which it actually successfully did. I think I could as well have opted for the XE version, or indeed perhaps better so, but that's hindsight now :S (besides, I've ordered a ZoomFloppy …

Re: I fear I blew up my GUS and/or motherboard

in DOS
No it can't be a conflict, I tried multiple IRQ and DMA settings, It seems to me the DMA has become flaky. Besides it was all suddenly wrong from one day to the other. About when I used my XM1541.

I fear I blew up my GUS and/or motherboard

in DOS
I soldered myself an XM1541 cable and used it to transfer C64 files to disk with StarCommander. After a while I played BlackThorne, and the SFX were mostly screeching sounds. And I didn't have music on my sound blaster, and sounds were as well screeching in BlackThorne. I noticed that I had left my …

Re: Sound blaster AWE64 configured 2 of 3 devices

in DOS
Strange thing is, I checked my DOSBOX configuration on my win7 pc and it stated the gravis ultrasound was enabled. Perhaps the PNP part of the ACE is a bit fishy? As far as I could see no SBOS was loaded btw. but I have to recheck that I think.
