When sound was working in the DOS version, I was using Sound Blaster 1.0 with a IRQ of 7 and a DMA of 1. I have no idea what I did other than reinstall the game using my bin/cue image. Any particular reason why you would want to force analog audio? I just figured games that old only used a CD-ROM audio cable. I checked it back though.
