perhaps i didnt make it clear, i tried the other ones (like 4.x.x) out of that package but none worked (always the yellow "!" - something about could not start) the 3.x.x worked but no game can be started always crash back to desktop or no D3D compatible card found or something like that. Then why not test an older driver for the Geforce. Maybe they killed something in the driver what this game needs or so. With some games I had problems too (glitches, return to desktop etc.) when I used a graphics card driver which was too new.

The 2D thing with Matrox cards was mostly about their picture quality. Sharper @high res then most other cards which were kind of "blurry" @1024 and above. So today I'd use them only as the 2D Part for a Voodoo 1/2 to compensate the quality loss due to the loop cable.

Maybe 128 MB are too much, but depends on the chipsets you will be using and how many L2 Cache the mainboard has.

Even your board supports the mixing of RAM Types (I never heard of one) it will slow down to the speed of the slowest RAM Module you use. I had the same problem with my GF4 TI 4800SE, maybe installing an older Nvidia driver should help you, too.
