Re: VESA and Duke Nukem 3D

in DOS
Heh heh. I know what you mean. The only problem is I have no idea how to model/skin and whatever else you gotta do to make a character for a FPS. I might as well start with something 2D - though it will also be alot of work, and there aren't alot of people that would get to use it compared to newer …

Re: VESA and Duke Nukem 3D

Look carefully on this page. Stiletto has a quote in his post that has a link, a link to a 3drealms forum in a topic in which they are talking about a launcher for Duke Nukem 3D. But whoever uses it and has a GeForce 4 MX still has the same problems as I am having simply using the NOLFB or whatever. …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

My specs are in my profile. :D Sheesh. Jazz runs imperfect on my super fast PC, and it ran flawlessy on my old 486. But I don't have any place to run that PC anymore. Ofcourse I couldn't get the highest sound quality on that machine, but the sound/music was atleast fluid and steady, as was the video …

Re: The Curse of Monkey Island

Glad you solved your problem. Now I need some help with this game. I have Windows XP and a Pentium 1.6 GHz. I started a new game and then the cutscenes started. It blazed through all the cutscenes like superfast! And then the game froze and I got a black screen and had to restart my computer. Is …

Hmm. Definitely going to check out that Duke runner sometime. Maybe when he gets online play working. Then I will have a reason to try and learn how to make Jazz Jackrabbit playable in Duke 3D (I don't know how to model just yet). However, it sounds like people in that thread STILL have the same …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Nothing seems to make ANY difference. The game always runs imperfect. The video is a little off, and the music becomes slow and choppy a bit. The only thing I know NOT to do is select basic VESA support. It seems to make it like if I didn't use VDMSound at all. Experimenting is getting no where. I …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
For Jazz Jackrabbit: VDMSlaunchpad settings: Should I enable basic VESA support? The sound/music is going rather slow and not always smooth. I am still confused about settings. I don't know for sound blaster live, and with what kinda of settings works well with Jazz, what should I choose to improve …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Actually, I patched the game. My problem is now getting it to run smoothly (the visuals and the sound/music) for the most part it runs good, but still kinda choppy and the sound is also scratchy and goes different speeds. So are we now in VDMSound territory now? It depends on the sounds/visuals in …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Well, that's cool. I got Jazz 1 with Jazz 2 but not on the same CD. Anyway, to get VDMSound working with JazzCD now. What settings work well for the sound to run smoothly and properly? I have Sound Blaster live 5.1. I either get no sounds, or very scratchy, choppy slow down, or sound that is too …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Wow, it worked for you too huh? I'll have to take 'my' advice (someone else told me to do this). Cause for me patching jazz.exe is just not working. What settings did you use in VDMsound to get sound to work nicely? Does the option 'highest quality' work? Maybe I should just shut up and try it. :D

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

Thanks. Someone on another board who got Jazz CD to work says that after you unzip ctbppat into the Jazz directory you type this: ctbppat file0001.exe to patch the exe file. I'm not sure how come. He says you will get questions and to answer yes to. Does deleting the directory from withen the …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Grrrr. This is one of those things that seems like it should be so easy to do but for some strange reason it just won't work for me no matter what I try. I also deleted the game and reinstalled it, and put the ctbppat files in that directory again, and typed exactly what you just told me to. And it …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Ah, thanks. Yeah, actually I believe the /mon thing is what I did last time and I didn't know what to do next, so I tried to back out somehow. Thanks I'll try this now. :D And what the heck - a hex editor? I'm getting the idea this is more than a patching program. But patching is all I …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

Okay wait a minute... I'm getting two different answers here. I want to make sure before I try this... it's: ctbppat jazz.exe /mon or is it: ctbppat jazz.exe and I get 2 questions which I answer Y to? Hmm? what is it exactly? Sorry, but I don't want to try it again until I know for sure this time. …
