Re: Rastan - Adlib music *very* low

My statements regarding the FM emulation provided by the Soundscape still stand and go a long way to explaining the difference between the performance of a real AdLib/OPL2/3 on a Soundblaster and your Soundscape - basically the Soundscape gets it 'wrong' and plays the effects and music at the same …

Re: Rastan - Adlib music *very* low

...it's quite possible that the music did sound loud via your Ensoniq Soundscape but maybe you might also remember that the SoundScape wasn't actually an OPL2/3 FM equipped card but rather it used it's OTTO synthesiser to emulate Adlib OPL2 playback. Therefore it's probable that Rastan sounded not …

Re: Rastan - Adlib music *very* low

Could the MIXER internal DOSBOx command do anything about it? I tried it. The FM setting I increased. The music does become louder, unfortuantely so does the sound effects. It appears both music and sound effects are affected by the FM adjust. The others (Except MASTER obviously) has no effect. …

Re: Rastan - Adlib music *very* low

I think the Rastan music in the PC version was supposed to sound that way. I mean it was originally low. I do not recall it being low at all. I distinctly remember this game and it's music. I first obtained it when all I owned was a XT-compatibile computer. A whopping 640KB and CGA 4-color graphics …

Re: 0.65 - Transylvania - PCJR mode

The memory layout for the machine=pcjr is a bit odd, but works for a wide range of games (sierra ones that need a lot of memory, some others only work if the memory is rather small). Thus loadfix is always a nice thing to try, especially different values as parameter. Thanks for the 'heads-up'. I …

Re: 0.65 - Transylvania - PCJR mode

Did this game really work on a pcjr? http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/transylvania/screenshots/gameShotId,218/ http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/transylvania/screenshots/gameShotId,220/ http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/transylvania/screenshots/gameShotId,219/ http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/ …

0.65 - Transylvania - PCJR mode

While playing Transylvania with DosBox 0.65 mode=pcjr, the top portion of the display becomes corrupted when switching between seeing the graphics or seeing your location/previous movements (Don't type anything just Hit Enter). This does not happen if the game is set to CGA mode, and render options …

Re: Activision Carts & PC Jr = "Screen Jitters"

> I would love to see your *.conf file, if you could please post it. load dosbox 0.65, type config -writeconf dosbox.conf > As well as the debugger version of DosBox where it does not jitter. It does occur there, too, i just didn't notice it before as i could not play it, and adjusting the cycles …

Re: Activision Carts & PC Jr = "Screen Jitters"

Not sure what .ini files you mean, but the dosbox.conf was default besides the cycles setting. River Raid doesn't work out of the box for me, as it hangs in some in 0x200 loop or so, thus i used a debugger enabled version (maybe that's why it works). Sorry - my bad, I meant *.conf files Not *.ini …

Re: Activision Carts & PC Jr = "Screen Jitters"

Just out of curiosity, have you verified that the jittering does not occur in non-PCjr games running in non-PCjr mode in DOSBox on your system? Maybe either you or wd could post your dosbox.conf and compare it to the other's to see what's different that could affect things. No other games "jitter", …

Re: Activision Carts & PC Jr = "Screen Jitters"

About the original problem: flickering seems to be gone if the cycles are set appropriate, maybe this works for you, too (setting the cycle count rather low). I have a 2.8GHz P4. I tried the following "cycles=" values: 1000, 350 (default for me), 250, 100, 50. The lesser values do affect the game …

Re: PC Jr Cart Support

4-switch "Woody" model still hooked up and in use, right next to my ColecoVision (Which both sit beside my PS2...lol). Absolutely, the 2600 versions are the best and most nostalgic for me; However, I love trying different ports of the same game on a variety of platforms. If you never tried it before …
