Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

Not all "cards" emulate the OPL (i.e. the stuff that comes built into most MoBo's, I'm pretty sure, doesn't). And I have doubts about the accuracy of the EMU's OPL emulation. As for the "point", you're not the one writing the VxD, so what do you care? :P V. eh? I think someones mixed two seperate …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

My SBLive has an EMU 10K1 (not quite sure if it means 10100 or 10001) 😉 The AWE64 had an EMU8000 IIRC. Seriously though, at the end of the day, whats the difference? The OPL chip gets emulated either way making his claim debatable either way.

Re: Doom V0.02 Benchmark Thread

in Milliways
I'm guessing its the beta of Doom 3 thats floating about and allegedly leaked by ATI. Since I don't have a computer capable of running it nor do I give enough of a fuck about Doom 3 to find and try it even if I did I haven't bothered with it.

Re: New problem with Impulse Tracker

mCode wrote: but in this case, I'd have to emulate a SB16 soundcard, is that possible - in DOS? Sound Card AC97 Yes, but it could be tricky. Stiletto posted a list of DOS drivers for AC '97 chipsets in the VDMSound development forum but I don't know if your chipset is covered or not.

Re: blood on glidos

in GliDOS General
Dream on...;) I wish it could, too! The Build Engine does´nt support hardware acceleration... There was this guys, some time ago, who tried to make GLDuke, never finished it... :( It never worked for me... Neither did the Doom engine originally but there are still plenty of accelerated source ports …

Re: VESA and Duke Nukem 3D

in DOS
It's referring to "Universal Plug and Play service", which is installed and running in all versions of Windows XP — and may be loaded into Windows 98 and ME — essentially turns every one of those systems into a wide-open Internet server. This server listens for TCP connections on port 5000 and for …

Re: Final Fantasy 7

in Windows
heh, I just plug a Dual Shock 2 in to my PS2 and it works right off the bat, no fiddling, not nothng :p Seriously, I've been struggling with the idea of buying/building one of those adaptor thingies for a year or two now and every time it ultimately came down to this: They simply require too much …

Re: Redneck Rampage sound help (no sound)....

in DOS
If memory serves, the DOS drivers (that is, real DOS, the Windows emulation drivers I hinted to earlier were installed regardless) were included in the Live driver updates but curiously not added to the default install profile. I used to get around that by extracting all the files into a folder on …

Re: OpenGlide Compatibility Thread

The thing that irks me about charging for GliDOS though is that currently, it only appears optimised for a certain numer of games. In its current state, I feel that charging USD$10 for it is a little excessive. I in no way disagree with him wanting donations to continue its development however.

Re: ok, got it

I will see if I can download Descent Freespace from somewhere to try, if you have the bandwidth... :) I don't know if it helps, but you might still be able to get the demo from the official site: http://www.volition-inc.com/fs I could never get 3D acceleration working with it but then, I was trying …

Re: OpenGlide Compatibility Thread

Whether it emulated Glide under Windows (for stuff like Descent: FreeSpace) or Glide under DOS (for stuff like the Glide version of Shadow Warrior). It's moot now since I found out by expermentation that it's Windows Glide. This is what I get in Descent: FreeSpace: (edit: I'd just like to point out …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

Just thought I'd add that this is an odd counterpoint to your "XP's sound emulation r0x0rz" thread, but I don't feel like getting into it. Obviously you weren't paying attention. I never said that exactly (but I understand how someone might see it that way). What I said was that, when it worked, …

Re: 3D API Compatibility List - By Snover

I realise that IE is the dominant browser and put up with it to a point, so long as a page looks reasonably good in Opera I don't particularly mind, it's when a person goes overboard with the browser-specific stuff making it look perfect in that browser but right mess in anything else I get pissed …

Re: VDMSound adds wierd keyboard input

I've been having keyboard trouble with VDMSound (I'm pretty sure that VDMSound is responsible seeing as neither XPs emulation or Virtual PC seem to show it but since XP doesn't have AdLib emulation and Virtual PCs sucks, I'd really like to make this work with VDMS) myself but nothing like that... In …
