Re: Feast of Voodoo graphics cards

in Marvin \ Video
Very nice history and pictures of the Voodoo Graphics cards. I enjoyed reading it. I would add to that the Obsidian GE which I presume stands for Gamer/Gaming Edition as it's limited to 4MB and was the reference that most manufacturers based their cards on. Here's a sample of this card from my …

Re: Best PCI graphics cards as of end of 1997

If you want something "totally radical" for the year 1997 then look no further than a Quantum3D 100SB-4440V. The "V" at the end stand for MVG2000 module to make the card boot-up and display 2D similarly to a Voodoo Rush and it works with glide games. Here's a picture of one: http://www.tdfx.de/pic/ …

Re: Real3D/Diamond i740 AGP/PCI drivers

The drivers for the Real3D Starfighter i740 PCI are different from the AGP models as Putas mentioned. I've tested my PCI i740 card in Win9x using these: http://download.beta.cnet.com/Starfighter-PCI-Release-0288/3000-2108_4-104632.html http://www.video-drivers.com/drivers/45/45424.htm For the AGP …

Let's change the tone a bit, it's way too harsh. There are always different views and things to learn and hearing different perspectives should be encouraged, clarified and discussed without taking it personal. In the end, just agree to disagree and everyone can make up their own mind. Sorry about …

Voodoo2 as 2D display card Once again, it can't render 2D in DOS/Windows, regardless of what your OS shows. This workaround was designed to fool Win 2k/XP OS, but fundamentally changes nothing. Even the link you've posted confirms this. Can Voodoo 2 render picture standalone? Sure thing, since it …

It can't. Only 3D via API. Spoken like someone who hasn't even tried those beta drivers. More details in the driver notes: http://falconfly.de/info/readme-v2-win2k-10000b.txt Next time try to read your own links: "The Voodoo2 board will show up in the display applet's settings pane just like a mainstream 2d/3d board. Unlike mainstream 2d/3d boards, Voodoo2 does not have any VGA …

Re: Setting up 2 x Voodoo2 cards in SLI

The Voodoo and Voodoo2 were 3D accelerators, and only 3d accelerators. Technical possibilities aside, they are only capable of producing 3d images, which means that you need another 2d capable card to compliment the voodoo for windows, dos, and other interfaces. Technically it's possible, but the …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 and pass thru cable?

The Voodoo3 PCI can work alongside the Geforce2 but not like a Voodoo2 via loop cable. You can decide via mainboard BIOS which card will be booted-up first AGP or PCI so you can use one card or the other as primary. The missing smds are not the problem with this card. From the information you provided the VSA100 master chip is working fine reason why the card boots-up and works in single chip mode without issues. The problem could be that due to overheating the slave VSA100 chip is damaged and because it's only …

I'm still hoping for more Hercules Thriller Conspiracy fun, like if there was a demo which showed off the Fujitsu chip or something :) That makes two of us. Until someones find the drivers and compatible application to put the Fujitsu chip through it's paces the card will just be a nice display …

How do you find these gems? Friends and luck :-) It looks more like where someone would mount a heatsink+ fan and bolt it through the board like later nvidia/amd boards had to me.. but I doubt these cards ever ran hot enough to warrant that. Not really. In the development stages of silicon they …
