@ DosFreak - i dont get your point :). If i wouldnt want to use the voodoo 3d acceleration i wouldnt ask for a sourceport which could use it. There are games like Descent 1 / 2 with 3dfx capabilities, be it official or cummunity driven. So glide works for dos games under real dos. I assumed doom …

I discovered something strange: The same disc, when read under ms-dos 7 with dos cd drivers, gives reading problems. Within Windows 98 - no problems.... @Plasma - whats a "pots". Thx for your time!

Update1: Got Ranish running on my machine - I forgot to create the special boot manager partition, now the partitions are saved properly. But when I want to use the boot menu text 25x80 mode, I'm getting a big red box telling Exception 13 - general protection fault. Anybody got any clues? Thx.

Hello, thanks for your answers, i solved my problems by stop using the FreeDOS tools. Using my plain Win98 bootdisk and the old Microsoft fdisk and format - it worked. Even my 250 gig hdd works now.
