My sb16 was noisy until i disabled onboard amp by changing the jumper settings. Couldn't be happier with it right now, great card.

Tried to get Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro to work in Dos 6.22 on sb16 gameport with no success. Next step to check if gameport is working on this card at all... but only Joystick i have is same Sidewinder.

I was too late to reply, but i had same problems with Asus P2B few years ago, solution was to upgrade BIOS to beta version from 2002, it added large disks support.

General Midi has some music slowdowns here and there, plus some volume ups and downs (like some notes play louder for a moment). I use NC 5.0 on both DOS and Win 98 rig and i never had a crash caused by it and even if it would crash, you would be dropped back to DOS prompt. I suggest checking your memory sticks, or as it was mentioned previously, check NC with pure DOS (no drivers, no config.sys options changed).
