Multitude of possibilities here, try; - Cleaning the cards contacts - Using different drivers - Using a different PCI slot - Seeing if it installs drivers correctly with no other devices plugged in on the PCI/ISA buses.

Yep, a multitude of reasons could be behind this. Its just a matter of using the process of elimination. And yes a faulty optical drive could be behind it. I was tearing my hair out once with an XP install failing. Turned out to be the CD drive.

Ace Combat AH slows down the motion of its in-combat cutscenes. But still maintains at least 60fps & uses the game engine to render.

I made the mistake of getting rid of all my retro gear back when I was a teen. I know one shouldn't live in regret but goddamn I still wish I had some of the parts I had back then. If you lose interest, I can only say NEVER get rid of it if at all possible.

Whilst I know the the BH6 was a decent overclocker, why bother with the risk of damaging it? Those boards are excruciatingly difficult to find & are expensive. Id be more comfortable with getting a 900, 1000 or 1100 Coppermine. I agree with mau1wurf on this one. But it is your system 😀

Yep, just drill the hole out. Even some 40 wire cables have the same thing. Just don't get me started on FDD cables 😒

I was planning on inspecting the traces closer. But I don't have a decent enough magnifier in my possession 🙁 At present its hard to tell if its corrosion or a broken trace. I did run a continuity test on some that "appear" to be straight-forward, but it was no dice.

My soldering skills aren't that good hahaha. Its not in a socket unfortunately. I do suspect that traces have been damaged around the old Ni-Cd battery.

Nothing wrong with the Rush. IVe got the exact same card in my AMD 5x86 133 system. And I was quite impressed with its performance compared to a Monster3D.

Never had stability issues with Aladdin V. MVP3 on the other hand, didn't like my K62/500 very much. Conversely I ran an M2 366gp without as many problems.

Now that is interesting reading. Even the P55C is faster than a P2 or P3. Would it have something to do with Raw, non-optimized integer performance?

There's a lot of truth to the OPs post. For me its always "I'll play that old game on that PC I built for it", instead I'm building another system. Truth is, I love both my old games & building systems. Just building is like working on cars, once you have the itch you will scratch for eternity.
