I've seen bad DIMMs, bad memory slots, and otherwise good mobos that are just picky about memory, but this is a new one and I'm not sure what to blame as the root cause. The mobo is KT133A. For a *quick* format, use a FreeDOS bootable CD or boot floppy with FORMAT.EXE on it. Windows 98 SE install CD or boot floppy also works but the format is slower.

If you get a cheap mobo, you still get all that on-board stuff, but at least you don't feel as bad about disabling it in BIOS. Figure out exactly how many slots, ports, etc. you need and maybe the cheap mobo will do.

I have never seen that resolution be perfectly sharp with an analog cable. You are pushing the physical limit. Some will be better and some will be worse but none will be perfect.

Weird problems with multiple motherboards, CPUs, and memories, usually not POSTing, points to a bad PSU. But if "washed" means submerged in water then you may have worse problems now.

The only thing I use acetone for is removing superglue. People are pretty cavalier about using Goof-Off for all situations, but it is worse than acetone. I have done more damage than good with that stuff. Alcohol is good for cleaning almost everything except it will dissolve Latex paint.
