I find that the later episodes without Gary Kildall to be kind of hard to watch because Cheifet seems to rush everything and repeatedly talk over everyone, when Gary was still around he kind of brought a relaxed balance to the show.

Huh...today I learned. I never would have thought upper memory would have been missing from the post screen, but that makes sense.. I guess? It seems to be fairly common, I have a 286 SBC with 1MB of ram installed on it and the bios only shows 640k conventional no extended, and my CompuAdd 316s …

Given that you have a 286 and it was made by packard bell I would reasonably assume that they are 30 pin simms, because I am not aware of Packard Bell using anything proprietary they typically used cheap off the self parts and 30pin simms installed in pairs of 2 were the most common configuration …

Actually now that I look at it, there is an auxiliary battery pin on the chip, so you may be able to use that instead of having to hack in to the chip, Actually, is there an external battery header anywhere on the motherboard that interfaces to the Vbaux pin?
