Re: Discworld 2 stuttering

I actually can't run Discworld 2 without enabling "low level CD support". If I don't enable it, it complains that it can't find the CD. If this is really the cause of my stuttering, I need to figure out how to get it to run without low-level CD support. Anybody got any ideas?

XP video corrupt after exiting Discworld 2

I got Discworld 2 to run with VDMSound reasonably well. There is still some nasty audio skipping, even with the CDs copied to .iso images and mounted with VirtualCD (only works with low-level CD support, whether I use VirtualCD or the real CDs). That's all livable, though-- what's not livable is …

Re: Discworld games - cannot locate CD

I managed to track down the full version of the game. I can install it and run it in DOSBox, but that leaves me with two issues: the sound stutters, and i'd prefer to have the whole thing installed on the hard drive. I'm still unable to get the HOTU version to work. I believe that if I can get it to …

Re: Space Quest 4 music issue

I'll test VDMS tonight. You can set the music to whatever you want in the Sierra install, Adlib, Roland, GUS, SB, etc... but it still all comes out as PC Speaker music. I can verify that by disabling PC speaker emulation, which then kills the music (but not the normal sounds). It's the CD talkie …

Re: Discworld games - cannot locate CD

I have tested the exact parameters from his post. No luck. I have tried my real d:\ and e:\ drives, and mapped them both to virtual d and e in dosbox. I can successfully cd to my virtual cd-rom and look at the disc contents, so the mapping is working fine. I assume you need something in the cd-rom …

Space Quest 4 music issue

I've been setting up a bunch of my old games in DOSBox, and have had very good luck so far. I have run into an odd issue with Space Quest IV, though-- no matter what sound support I enable (SB, GUS, Roland, etc...) and what I configure in the "INSTALL" tool, the music is *always* PC Speaker. I'm …

Re: Discworld games - cannot locate CD

I'm not at home, so I will test his exact config this evening. It looks nearly identical to my cd config, though-- the only difference is that he does: mount -t cdrom d e:\ and I do: mount d e:\ -t cdrom Is this my goofup? If not (if the commands are equivalent, as it seems to be-- the CD mounts …

Re: Discworld games - cannot locate CD

Can anybody confirm that they got rid of the "Cannot find CD" error? There seems to be some confusion here-- the link to the detailed install walkthrough from HOTU appears to be from an older version of their CD rip download for Discworld 2. The current version of the zip from their site does not …
