Re: Static sound from Sound Canvas SC-88

Finally, take off the cover and have a look at the capacitors. This module actually has to PCBs. And in one of them there are 6 SMD caps. Two of them seem to have some leakage. I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and tried again, and the module now detects the signal coming from the computer. The …

Re: Static sound from Sound Canvas SC-88

I tried some games that have General Midi support. Doom, Descent and Warcraft 2. It was listed as working, but it was from a japanese auction site, with google translator, and you know you can only get so far with that. The funny thin is, I bought two MT-32 whiche were listed as "junk" and they both …

Re: Static sound from Sound Canvas SC-88

Did you try replacing the internal battery with a fresh one? A low battery can cause strange behaviour (including corrupted sounds) in these units. Other things to check for are interference (may be something as simple as being connected to the same power outlet as your PC), but in some cases the …

Static sound from Sound Canvas SC-88

Hello. I recently got a Sound Canvas SC-88, and when I connect it to speakers I get a loud static sound. I tried different speakers, as well as the rear output RCA and the front Headphone jack. I opened it, to check if there were any blown up capacitors, but everything seems to be fine. Also I …

Re: How do I flash VBIOS on an S3 card?

Re: How do I flash VBIOS on an S3 card?

Well. I'm finnaly home and got to have a look. Two of them have EPROM and one has a EEPROM chip (Virge DX PCI), all of them socketed as stated before. So I guess I have to buy an external flasher to flah two of them and what are the other options you mentioned before for the EEPROM chip?

How do I flash VBIOS on an S3 card?

So I have some S3 cards, namely a Virge DX, Trio64 V2/DX and a 3D/2X, and all of them have the infamous brightness problem. I found a couple of threads in here and other forums with patched BIOS and fixes, but I can't seem to find any flashing software. Can you even flash one of these through …

Re: Can't calibrate joystick in Wing Commander in DOS (not DOSBox)

in DOS
Sorry for bumping up this old thread. But I made some interesting discoveries today that may be of interest. As stated before I wasn't able to get a joystick to work correctly with wing commander. I tried different sound cards, different joysticks, different CPUs, RAM, hard drives... you name it, …
