Re: DOS Glide Games List

Yes, only "DOS 3dfx Patch" and "DOS 3dfx Native" allowed. I'll also permit "DOS/Windows 3dfx/... Native/Patch" IF the DOS version supported Glide. NichtSehrGut, you've done a great job, bud. I'll implement your comments and ask that everyone please follow this format while making changes. I never …

Re: NV-1 Emulation

Go read, it's a lot of fun. Funny part was how they promised Direct3D support before they realized the NV1 _really_ didn't like Direct3D. I actually remember this back from when I originally read it back in '96. Now all I need is the quick and easy fix for "20 seconds of great audio and then it …

Re: DOS Glide Games List

Now, is this supposed to be for SOLELY Glide games, Glide games with software emulation, or Glide games with OpenGL and/or Direct3D? I'm confused as to how explicit this list is supposed to be. I think it's supposed to be only titles that run in DOS with Glide support (IOW, GliDOS candidates. Just …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

BTW, does anyone know _anybody_ besides Dracman to get this to work without a wrapper? I know someone else was trying MechWarrior with the same parameters and it failed completely.

Re: Cli2Nop...Hrmmm

in DOS
That's kind of what I thought. So the next time someone complains loudly about how they can't live without their Duke3D and they have some capacity to program, they will be, in fact, _volunteering_ to fix it. Remember that everybody.

Re: Cli2Nop...Hrmmm

in DOS
Vlad. What's the viability of my theory? Is it possible to Cli2Nop a program at a minimal level, and then perform the same function "by hand" (or by Hex editor or whatever...), to get a reasonable compromise for certain titles that are a royal pain in the derriere.

Re: Windows Game Troubleshooting Checklist

Yep, There is no reason whatsoever to install a game in another OS and then copy the files to 2K/XP. Every install error that I have encountered have been fixed by the 2000/XP Compatibility Shortcut Layer or the Application Compatibility Toolkit. Was referring to comments from NT-Compatible that …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

There were some good reasons for this back when they first bought them. 1)They wanted 3dfx gone. Any attempt at trying to preserve Glide back then meant you have huge numbers of irate 3dfx fans demanding driver support for their 3dfx cards. And since most of these people seemed to hate NVidia in the …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

Hey Stiletto, one thing I'd like to see is NVidia support (even if it's _completely_ unofficial) for 3dfx Glide. At least for the windows Glide2. I'd prefer that DOS titles be covered as well, but I already know I dreaming with Glide2. They wouldn't even have to write it themselves, just release the …

Re: What, from Windows Update?

in DOS
Which now doesn't support ANY of the Windows 9x series of OSs? Fortunately, that's not true...yet. Windows 95 updates have come to an end, but the auto-update for Win98 is still active, but requires IE v5.0 (SP2 I believe) or higher. Download and update IE 5 SP2 (the minimal option works fine 8.4 …

Re: X-Com Apocalypse

in DOS
I tried Display Doctor in both the 3D and 2D modes and both times X-Com froze before the intro started - a step backwards. Forgot to respond to this earlier. These are the kinds of stories I hear with the "Display Doctor". For every good one I hear a dozen really bad ones. The only other thing I …

Re: Re: Re: Re: Last Resort

in DOS
It had some adjustments and tweaks and other stuff...I can't remember them at the moment, but is really the OS of choice for gaming. Well, I'm going to be using it because I need it for Virtual PC (access point between the 2 OS's). But basic W98 has all you need. Microsoft IntelliMice come with a …

Re: Windows Game Troubleshooting Checklist

1. Try game first. Genius! Why didn't I think of that? Then try latest patch. This reminds me. Would be nice if we had a patch database or a link to one, like: http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ Unfortunately that's about the only one I can think of...Other places like games domain have let all their " …
