Well whats interesting is that they made both a 16 mhz version and a 20 mhz version so it must be able to take some differences.

Well i socketed the crystal and then tried different ones but they all gave a 216 error on boot =/ 216 seems to be a memory related error. Only the original 40mhz crystal would boot.

There are no options to change anything since it is a Microchannel bus machine. It has to load it's "Bios" from a floppy disk. It is all "Plug and pray that you have the disk for the card you just inserted" lol thats why im getting the DIP 14 socket and installing it so if it complains ill just put …

If your 487 socket has the extra pin then go for an overdrive CPU. My IBM Eduquest Model 50 which was an SX-33 is now a DX4-100 thanks to that socket. I still have a DX2-66 overdrive if yours has that extra pin.

It seems we now have it solved. After the original pullup mod the next problem was the cheap ass USB supply i was using :lol: All games working fine now.. =D On a positive note while i was messing with the P70 i upgraded the CPU from a 386DX-20 to a 486DLC-33 so it is a little faster now =) Still …

Yes the sounds were all messed up with Monkey island 1. like a garbled mess of off-key notes etc. Wolf3d sounded like that before patching it. After running the patch Wolf3d sounded perfect.
