Re: Backing up DOS era CD-ROM games?

in DOS
I'm going through a process of archiving my old games to a) image file b) 1:1 cd copy. For the a) a use ImgBurn and for the b) clonecd. Now, I have noticed making a copy of games like Quake/Hexen (that have CD audio tracks), a new CD with audio tracks have occasional clicking and artifacts (when I …

Re: GLQuake

in Windows
I tried Winquake with said parameter but it gives some red glitches and visual artifacts. Anyways I'm playing GLQuake... only to find out that CD music doesn't loop. Uncle google says it's an issue with modern OS. What a bummer.

Re: GLQuake

in Windows
Why not use one of the newer source ports? They won't have problems like that and there's a few of them that are very authentic to the original experience. Yes, I probably could. Bot not sure how would that work in terms of performance. See the specs of my system in the reply above. Also I really …

Re: GLQuake

Does enabling vsync in your video driver work? Don't know what system you're playing on or graphics card, but lots of drivers let you have per-game config settings. Thanks for the hint. I enabled "vsync" in the properties of my video driver and it did the trick. Now I can play it with 60 fps. …

in Windows

So I looked for the two of the oldest ports WinQuake and GLQuake. With WinQuake I also get crappy framerate around 17fps (640x480). In GLQuake …

Re: Shadow Warrior v1.0 (shareware)

Thanks guys for the hints. I've downloaded the lag of the plain SVN build and the game works like a charm now. I just found an old compilation CD with shareware shooters and wanted to give some of those games a try. Never played SW before. Really cool game. Next in line - Blood.

Shadow Warrior v1.0 (shareware)

I'm having issues to run SW shareware. Upon start it gives the fallowing errors. (see attachment). I've found similar errors in this thread: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=43961 I've tried mounting the game directory as the root directory but with no luck. Any ideas how to get the game …

HOM&M2 - image file and audio issues

I have a copy of HOM&M2 in MDF/MDS format. From my understanding this specific format is a full image with support of red book audio (like BIN/CUE). After mounting this image in Windows with Daemon Tools and using DOSBox game installs and run fine but I have no music (no audio CD tracks). I use [ …
