Booting from CD on a Tecra500/510CDT?

Sadly the floppy drive has died for my Tecra and it seems the bios does not allow to CD booting (at least the version of the bios now). Ill give that a try, big thanks man. At least i can still restart using the case button and it restarts properly when i do. Just weird i have to do that.

So heres an update. I can shut down just fine. I still cant restart no matter what i take out of the startup, not having audiohq running in the background. But, if i go restart, hit the restart button on the case it restarts fine. No scandisk on boot. But still wondering what this could cause it. So …

The driver should be fine, because if i DONT install audiohq which i dont have right now. It restarts perfectly. It only bugs out the moment the software is installed. Even with the same drivers. And on another install before a reinstalled 98se months ago, i tried the MS Fix, still nothing.

Everything about the PC runs fine even with the SBLive drivers. But once you install AudioHQ software the restart or shutdown wont work, it hangs on the "Windows is Shutting Down". Well i got my hands on another P2B-F 1.00. Pentium II 450 works just fine. Its using BIOS 1013A. But when i boot into Windows it gives the Error -- Cant Write ESCD. And this was before i Flashed the BIOS and wasn't giving me this error when i first got it either.

Both fan connections get power. And yeah shamino i think my P2 is a locked one. I tried setting the multiplier to a different setting in 66FSB and got nothing it would stay at 300 Mhz. And i turned it to 100 FSB and tried to lower the multiplier to something lower and still no boot. But i was …

So I should say that the Pentium III 450 was tested. Same jumper settings as the PII 450 still no boot. Im just wondering now exactly what could cause a motherboard going wrong like this. Yeah the system will not boot with 100 FSB sadly. It actually is a P2450 unless i was scammed and somebody put a SECCII P2 450 case thing on it. Yeah i thought it was odd seeing the keyhole too. Thankfully i got the case with the key too. Its pretty much unused though. And yes, i guess i have learned more about being sure i clean things more. Never thought of the pencil eraser trick though.

I will go into the BIOS and read the voltages and see how they change. Thankfully yes there is a voltage read out in the BIOS. So I can go as high as 83.3 FSB. Which is 375 Mhz.(I reverted back to 66fsb though) If set to 100.3 It wont boot. Maybe my PSU cant put out enough power?

I wish i had a multimeter. Hopefully what i typed up there didnt sound wrong. What i was saying that for some reason at first the computer would just flick on if you plugged it in.
