If this happened to me I'd open up the pipe as someone has suggested. (Sink traps should be cleaned at regular intervals anyway). If the part is very light however it's probably gone for good.

I don't know about brands. I just buy whatever's cheapest on ebay. (Goes to look). I see I've been buying Kapton tape. I don't know if there are better alternatives.

Nothing wrong with CRT TVs. We still have a Philips 32PW9617/12 as our main screen. Still works fine, though the remote has had to be replaced several times over the years.

That's heat resistant tape. Normal tape will peel off over time due to the heat inside the case.

LOL @ this thread. So much rage. Someone up top mentioned CD-ROM drives with fans. I've wondered about that. I took an old drive apart for cleaning a while ago and noticed that, although it didn't have a fan, there was a little vent in the back of the case and mounting slot for a small fan inside. …

Doesn't matter. It's generational. Kids who began tinkering with computers around Y2K will now be old guys with fond memories of P4's -- and lots of cash to spend on them.

How does booting into DOS from CD work anyway? Aren't there driver issues to sort out, since DOS doesn't have native optical drive support?

Does it have a hard drive? If your "modern" computer has a parallel port you can use DOS INTERLNK/INTERSVR to transfer files.

Yeah what's the deal with people just cancelling eBay auctions if the bidding isn't going as they like? Isn't this supposed to be against the rules? If it doesn't sell as high as you intended just suck up the loss and put a higher minimum bid next time.

P4 stuff, which used to be worthless, is now appreciating noticeably. I advise anyone thinking about a P4 build to get buying now.

Full length ISA cards are common. Full length PCI cards are rare. Full length PCIe cards are non-existent. (Has anyone seen one?) I think the only full length PCI card I have is the Matrox Productiva G100 MMS, which even has a handle on the far end.
