As others have said, there really is no "best" module for General MIDI. The biggest challenge is finding a module with a properly balanced sound set. THX is strictly a certification. Whether or not a soundcard sports the THX logo is merely a question of whether the manufacturer opted to pay for the certification. Sound card technology itself hasn't changed though.

Man, that is a *lot* of content. Love the fact they include games that aren't traditionally thought of as RPGs (Jagged Alliance 2, Star Control 2, etc). This is making me want to go back and play Pool of Radiance again...

I own both. To my ears the SC-88 Pro set to the 88 map sounds identical to the regular SC-88. I'll see if I can put together a couple comparative recordings.
