I agree with furan here, I don't mind paying a little extra for not having to deal with some of the issues, and my soldering skills are ... Well I won't say they don't exist, but they aren't that great. And you're helping a guy with a small company.

I've always solved my speed issues with either cache disabling or utilities like Mo'Slo , never had to use softmpu to delay transfers on my 233mmx build. Like Squiggly says,the mt-32 is more a dos music device, and you shouldn't have any issues with the sound canvas. If you plan to play the dos games in dos box, I would suggest that you use a, USB midi cable and connect the mt-32 to it, you won't have the need of a soft /hard MPU. And you can also …

Another question... what is the value of wavetable daughterboards (for DOS games) if you are already connecting to something like an MT-32? The mt-32 is amazing for games where the music is written for it and when the game devs wrote good drivers... But it sounds weird/bad when playing general midi …

I think it's to give the option to either have mt-32 and/or general midi on one card it's cool on systems where you can't have an isa SB and your isa mpu-401
