Thanks guys I hadn't thought of that. The card does work and I did not plug anything in to those ports. Makes sense that you might wants cd audio on the card if you didn't have a sound card.

Unfortunately that board died. Hangs on POST no matter what I do. Luckily I found another in the trash heap at work that is working fine so far. It doesn't have onboard so I'm now using an Ensoniq AudioPCI card.
