Voodoo2 crashing pc?

So I just installed a new voodoo2 into my win98 rig (Geforce2 ti, p3 1ghz, 512mb of ram, and an asus p2b-f) but when I try to change the resolution, it completely hangs up and I can't do anything. In some cases I get a blue screen or a black screen with green lines at the very top. Any suggestions …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Reflow?

Like i said, you can simply blow off components with a heatgun. You can be too late very easy. Keep asking these questions is not going to make it anything different. Make up your mind and put the card in the oven, or not. Chances are slim that you fix it that way, chances are also slim that you …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Reflow?

So I have an oven, and a heat gun with a digital display and adjustable temps from 120 to 750 Fahrenheit, which would be better to go for? Between the two, I'd say oven. At least it will uniformly heat the board. Non-uniform heat is a problem in itself. Do I think the oven will likely fix your card …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Reflow?

Leaded solder can absolutely crack, even if it's less likely. The problem with lead-free solder is that it can crack with very little convincing. You can still mishandle a board and crack leaded solder (without ruining anything else on the board), and I'm not surprised if a relatively large PCB …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Reflow?

Well, if you didn't own it from new, you never know what the card has been trough. Maybe it was thrown in boxes with other cards several times etc. and that way there IS a crack in the solder somewhere. A heatgun might be better BUT it is very hard to control and you don't know how hot the area is. …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Bake?

My best advice for replacing the rest of the missing caps would be to find pictures of an identical voodoo 5, check the caps and replace them with the equivalents on the other Voodoo. Or possibly another member could read you off the values from their card maybe. As previously suggested, the nature …

Re: Voodoo5 5500 Bake?

It's better to get it working without baking if you can, but the downside is that if you add the components and then it doesn't work and you bake it... baking is actually bad for capacitors. It can fix problems with solder but it can also cause other problems - it's a roll of the dice. I've seen …

Voodoo5 5500 Bake?

So I have a voodoo5 5500 that is displaying red lines. It was missing C505, C515, C109, C90, and C543. I have put C515 and C109 back on and there was no improvements. And so I went researching. I came across a few videos on saving gpu's that display red lines. Would baking it work? Also anyone know …
