Re: I de-CQMed my AWE32 PnP CT3990...!

The CT3600 was a bit of a disaster. Soldering the YMF289B-S and YAC516-E on was actually much, much better than my job on the CT2950, but I got a little overzealous with the heatgun in the end and popped one of the vias in a trace shared between the OPL and the CQM chip, and blistered the board a …

Re: I de-CQMed my AWE32 PnP CT3990...!

Yeah, the tiny pins of the YMF289B-S are pretty annoying to try to solder by hand. I had to redo one of my cards three times(!) before it worked as expected. Keep at it, and good luck! :) After redoing it twice and fearing lifting or burning a pad, I had someone much more competent with a soldering …

Re: I de-CQMed my AWE32 PnP CT3990...!

C46, 50 and 52 should be as high as you can find, I used 10µF. Bigger = better, less noise etc. C45, 47 and 48 are 0.1µF but can also be 10µF or something else big. I took the parts from around CQM and its DAC stuff. C41 I moved from C37, R13 from R9. This moves the CQM clock parts to OPL3L side, …

Re: I de-CQMed my AWE32 PnP CT3990...!

I have successfully de-CQM'd a CT3990 and CT3600 : http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/PCschit/CT3600-deCQM.jpg http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/PCschit/CT3990-deCQM.jpg I also took a look at the CQM chip and it runs off 46.615120MHz, with 20x cycles per BCLK and 960 cycles per sample, giving 48557.416...Hz …

Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

I have a FSC-D1026 Deluxe-MB with a CS4232 on it. SBpro sounds superbe on it, but FM is sometimes good, sometimes terribly off. Afaik I should be able to completly disable the FM on that Codec, so 388h? should be totally free. If we're talking about using the OPL3LPT for FM, and you're running the …

Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

I can help you with this project, if you are interested. I appreciate the offer! Using some of the code I supplied as a base, Darron has provided me with a version of the application which can use the OPL3LPT as output, and it's working well so far; my understanding is that he's going to clean up …

Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one. Started out by hacking a new DLL together to replace the YMF262 emulator that Freq Monster 801 was using with functions that just did I/O directly to the OPL3LPT, but wasn't particularly happy about the approach. Contacted the software's author to see …

Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

So, somewhat unrelated to...most applications of this device, I’m gathering, but here goes. I, an idiot, am trying to use my OPL3LPT with this: http://fm801.kewl.org/app/about/ Cool. Very good. Slight problem: Windows. datajake1999’s OPL3EMU seemed...promising, but of course its job is to act as a …
