SLT 286 and 386 are standard ATA pinout. Only difference is power pins, 5, 12v and ground. CF cards are not always compatible, Ones that works well for me is WD 512MB and 1GB, you can set the CMOS to use 200MB or 504MB and use fdisk and format it will work. Cheers,

BIOS firmware have no bearing on video chipset, the issues depends on some specific chipset for example 5428 and 5429 are same cores but 5429 had windows 3.11 acceleration added. 7500 and 8500 are very hard to find for me. Decent choices of Rage 128 Pro, 9200 and 9600 all AGP, x800 is getting harder to get due to price. Nvidia: MX400, GTS and MX440/460 and 4200 Ti are easier to get. FX5600 and 5900 are somewhat easy but getting very expensive. Cheers,
